@jonabuet@TrierUni @mscharkow There could not be any more interesting times in social science, and I’m excited to see how we will untangle the crazy thing that is today’s communication. Onwards and upwards!
First tweet :)
I am starting my Phd journey with the brillant @Pascal at @TrierUni in CCS. I am deeply indebted to @ifpmainz (esp. @Mscharkow and Christian Schemer) for their guidance and insight. CCS is really exciting now. I hope to make it more so.
And huge congratulations to @FabienneLind for receiving the first ever Computational Methods Division Top Dissertation award at #ICA23 for her dissertation "Multilingual Automated Content Analysis for Comparative Communication Research"
Truly outstanding work!

Absolutely awesome work by @m_boesch@TomDivon on new forms of memetic propaganda that leverage the aural characteristics of TikTok. Excellent foundational work here for computational comms scholars to extend with new methods for study of form and spread. #ICA23
✨✨Our “Video as Data” panel is today 3pm Norfolk! The room might likely be too small to hold the passion for hundreds of us showed up already at @ica_cm events, but come sit & stand, let us discuss computational and qualitative approach to analyze videos! #ICA23 👇
Our own @groceryheist has won the @ica_cm best paper award at #ICA2023 (for the third year in a row!). This year it was for his work characterizing and correcting bias in machine learning used for measurement in social science studies. Congratulations!
Interesting #ica23 presentation from @SebStier et al. using a tool that tracks news exposure inside Facebook, finding that - unlike direct access - political news exposure is not influenced by political interest.
