It's depressing that 28 years after Judith Rich Harris's The Nurture Assumption, psychologists are conducting, and journalists credulously reporting, useless correlational studies of people's decades-old memories of childhood abuse & their adult relationships, presented as evidence for causality. No controls for (among other things) more neurotic adults spinning childhood memories as traumatic; abusive parents passing on genes for cantankerousness to their kids; more obstreperous children growing into more obstreperous adults. | "Childhood Trauma Echoes Through Romantic Relationships" https://t.co/9f5X99EJUx
@jonatanpallesen@cremieuxrecueil It's an insanely bad policy for everyone with multiple downstream negative consequences., oftentimes with things like these the consequences are spread out but with rent control they are devastating and become visible pretty quickly if implemented fully.
@cremieuxrecueil The argument should be based on natural rights also everything you think that we need to pay for somehow through government taking our money to do them can be provided through markets and voluntary exchange.
This is antithetical to a famous joke of his about how amazing it is that we have the technology of human flight and how we're taking something so amazing for granted and here he is trashing someone for marveling at the mundane and it's the featured joke. Unfunny and sad!
