RE: President Maraga
Our presidential candidacy started with fanfare online (predominantly here on X)
Then we saturated mainstream media with the President on an intense 2 months of media tour.
And now we're covering the ground, and will cover all 47 counties by the end of April, if all goes well, in the Ukatiba Caravan.
Our candidate is strong, his public speaking has improved dramatically, he moves stronger everyday and hasn't grown weary from this intense schedule.
He's up to it, and is very well received everywhere we go. Smiles, and cheers of a defiant country beaten into hopelessness but insistent on clinging onto the hope that a better country is in their hands.
Maraga is seen as a beacon of hope, a shining light in a sea of darkness; with most people saying that if the young people overwhelmingly resolve to elect him, then they'll join in.
Here's the interesting political conundrum:
2027 has a serious political question, which is urgent, but is not sufficient on its own.
There's a general fear of Kasongo coming back. The average voter is operating from this perspective and this is exactly why the concept of "most likely to defeat Ruto" precedes "most likely to move our country forward" in most discourses.
Otherwise, there are people we wouldn't be discussing in the first place if the priorities were flipped.
And we also cannot blame Kenyans for this. 5 more years of a Ruto presidency is a genuine horror even in its abstractness. Kenyans have every right to want to eject him by any political faction that promises to do it effectively.
We will not seek to win Kenyans over by ignoring this reality. We shall work harder. We want to both be the most likely to win as well as the most likely to move our country forward candidacy.
There's obviously a resource constraint, as well as a "media obsessed with theatrics" that we're trying to work around but there is no doubt that these will be resolved in due time.
We have one year to bring this home. And day by day the pieces are coming together. It's not dramatic, but it's steady, clear movement. There's immense work being done, guided by extremely committed and capable people working tirelessly in ever evolving structures under CJ Maraga.
For now, keep the faith. We can both rescue this country from Ruto, and not feed it back to an equally shadowy regime. The messaging behind that will be our headache, but with your help we'll get it to the corners of the country..
Maraga's is a candidacy like any other. The best option, yes, but one that will not hide from pertinent political questions and pressures. In due time, I believe we will win. This time round, I refuse to believe that we'll make the same errors of the past.
Steady your resolve friends. We have a country to rescue, and we need all the help we can get.🫶🏾
The government’s reponse to our public debt petition is not about transparency. It’s about shielding the truth and stalling real accountability.
Now, they claim the Auditor General is auditing public debt from 1965 to 2024. But this is nothing more than an attempt to distract, using a supposed constitutional obligation as a smokescreen to avoid accountability.
We are clear.
The Constitution, Article 229(4)(g), mandates the Auditor General to audit and report on public debt every financial year and submit those reports within six months after the financial year ends. This is July to December every year.
That means we should already have debt audit reports for each year from 2014 to 2024.
This narrative of a 1965 - 2024 mega audit is a distraction, meant to confuse and delay justice. It’s not a solution; it’s a weak cover-up.
Kenyans are not fooled.
We are overtaxed, underserviced, and constantly misled.
Our journey towards fiscal justice and accountability remains steadfast. We will not be distracted. We will not back down.
Speak up. Demand transparency. Kenya belongs to all of us, and the future will not be mortgaged without accountability.
