🧵It is now clear why juvenile PM resorted to crying, name-calling, and empty rhetoric. The recent defeat of Potemkin Party's army and RSF forces in Kurmuk Ethiopia appears to have struck a nerve. 1/4

President Isaias Afwerki met and held extensive discussions, yesterday evening at the Denden Guest House, with H.E. Bankole Adeoye, AU Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, on continental challenges and particularly on recent developments and trends in the Horn of Africa.
President Isaias referred to the deplorable practices and propensity of extraneous forces to portray Africa as the "poster child of civil wars" esssentially in order to rationalize their insidious acts to meddle in and manage these conflicts. Unfortunately, the AU has so far failed to take remedial measures to rectify these practices. The primary focus should be to prevent the eruption of conflicts instead of funneling time and energy on "managing" wars and crises, President Isaias emphasized.
The AU's structural weaknesses coupled with external intervention are hampering the continental organization from fulfilling the aspirations and expectations of the African peoples. Sadly, the AU has lost the capacity and wherewithal to say "No" and reject the complicating agendas certain countries continue to flaunt to advance their perceived interests.
President Isaias underlined that in Eritrea's perspectives, development plans that are charted out are closely intertwined with the promotion and crystallization of peace and security in the wider Horn of Africa, Nile Basin, Red Sea and Gulf Regions.
On the Sudan, Eritrea's firm and pronounced position has been and remains for the tragic conflict to be resolved by the Sudanese people themselves. Yet, external forces continue to compound and exacerbate the conflict thereby hampering the stability of the region.
Eritrea strongly believes in a strong Somalia that occupies its rightful place in the region. In this respect, Eritrea continues to make its modest contributions in bolstering the Somali National Army and related institutions.
In a brief statement to the Eritrean News Agency, Commissioner Adeoye stated that discussions on developments in the Horn of Africa, and especially on the prevailing situations in the Sudan and Somalia, were both profound and insightful.
🔴 In Recent Interview, President Isaias Proposes 12-Point Red Sea Security Plan in Coordination with Saudi Arabia and Egypt
The Eritrean state's consistent and pragmatic engagement with neighboring states such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia is based on strategic realities, not on ultra-leftist visions or the expectations shaped by a North American leftist lens. This strategic approach is grounded in a sober recognition that the region is interconnected, and that lasting security must be managed by the actual countries of the neighborhood without external imposition or intervention. This has been the central proposal in Eritrea's discussions with Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and the same principle applies to the broader Horn of Africa.

Our principal and longstanding national policy—pursued since the days of the armed struggle—has been regional stability. We do not live in isolation; therefore, this is not an option but a necessity. This principle should be upheld not only by us but by all countries in our neighborhood—the Nile Basin, the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf.
Generally, our region has experienced persistent crises stemming from internal weaknesses and external interferences. Development cannot be fully achieved without first addressing these challenges. We cannot claim to be secure while our neighbourhood remains entangled in crisis. Our actions must therefore be complementary, and mutual understanding is essential in creating such an environment.
Our engagements are based on this reality. Our bilateral engagement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aims to promote this shared and noble objective; which is not new. We have been engaging in this endeavour for a long time, not for the sake of nurturing alliances per se; but because Saudi Arabia has a significant geostrategic role in the region. We have discussed the role Saudi Arabia should play in promoting stability, security, and development in the Red Sea region.
Our bilateral engagement with Saudi Arabia is a continuous process of consultation. We had submitted a comprehensive 12-point proposal on the cooperation and coordination of the littoral States for the safety and security of the maritime route at the appropriate forum some years ago. The essence of these proposals revolves around the responsibility of each littoral State to protect its coastal segment; to foster cooperation among all the littoral States to enhance each other’s capabilities; and to create platforms and modalities of cooperation for joint action when necessary – whether it is combatting piracy; illicit trade; acts of subversion; drug trafficking etc. Implicit in these arrangements is avoidance of extraneous forces and hegemonic regional forces from a compounding military presence in the vital maritime route.
Overall, our engagements with Saudi Arabia and Egypt remain fruitful. There is mutual understanding on a wide spectrum of issues that transcend immediate security concerns to encompass common approaches to regional conflicts as well as potential cooperation in investment and infrastructure
As the visits took place at the end of 2025, they have also provided us with the opportunity to discuss priorities and actions for 2026.
Regional peace - in its broadest dimensions to encompass the Horn, Red Sea, Nile Basin & Arabian Gulf - remains of paramount importance to Eritrea. In this perspective, Eritrea opposes acts of indiscriminate killings & devastation inculcated by Israel in Gaza, Pre. Isaias noted
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, Building Tomorrow’s Eritrea
A tree grows taller because of its roots. A nation rises higher because of its history. To see farther, stand on the shoulders of your fathers and grandfathers not to admire the past, but to build the future. Their sacrifice gave us freedom; our responsibility is to make Eritrea rise even higher. 🇪🇷

Good Read - The Gazelle’s Grace: #Eritrea’s Timeless Beauty; by Kidane Shimendi
If the Camel is emblematic of Eritrea's resilience; the Gazelle is symbolic of Eritrea's social cohesion, grace and beauty!
*"...Eritrea’s boundless beauty is forged by the ethos of 'Unity in Diversity', a principle that harmonizes the profound solidarity of nine distinct ethnic groups with the nation’s stunning natural landscapes. This fusion creates a timeless aesthetic where cultural heritage and the natural world are deeply intertwined. Among the many elements drawing local and international tourists to Eritrea’s rich cultural canvas, few are as captivating as the symbolic relationship between the gazelle and Eritrean traditions. This connection is most vividly expressed in the traditional choreography of the country’s nine ethnic groups".
*"...In conclusion, Eritrea’s boundless beauty is anchored in its 'Unity in Diversity', which bridges rich cultural expressions and the wonders of the natural world. Watching the nine ethnic groups express love, grace, and resilience through movements that mirror the agile gazelle reveals a profound, historical bond between the Eritrean people and their environment. This relationship goes far beyond dance; it is woven into the very fabric of national identity and shapes how the people see themselves. To experience the cultural rhythms of Eritrea is to travel through a timeless landscape where life, nature, and community are celebrated in their truest, most beautiful forms".
In characteristic fashion, the Potemkin Party's erratic political pendulum is yet again swinging between two extreme positions:
i) A provocative and aggressive posturing that has been accompanied, for over two years now, by incessant saber-rattling to "acquire sovereign access to the sea", on the one hand;
ii) Simultaneous portrayal of itself as the "aggrieved party" and a "hapless victim of internal and external conspiracies", on the other.
This was indeed the gist of the PM's rambling at the House of Peoples Representatives earlier today.
Hyperbole and associated drama aside, the stubborn facts remain the same.
The sad truth is: the unnecessary and avoidable tensions in the region have and continue to be stoked by the very reckless policies of the Potemkin Party. For brief illustrations:
1. The palpable friction with the Sudan squarely emanates from the Potemkin Party's dangerous involvement in the conflict in the Sudan by hosting, under the bidding of certain extraneous forces, a secret military camp and base for the RSF in the Benishangul-Gumuz region of Ethiopia. The evidence, which is overwhelming, is already in the public domain.
2. The Potemkin Party's stealthily signed MOU with Somaliland a couple of years ago was another illicit and reckless misstep that aroused consternation in the region as a whole. This act remains in flagrant violation of the AU and IGAD Constitutive Acts as well as fundamental tenets of international law on sovereignty and territorial integrity of States.
3. The Potemkin Party has pursued, for over two and half years now, a toxic and revisionist policy against Eritrea by openly threatening to invade/acquire by any means, its Assab port and coastal areas for what it terms as "sovereign access to the sea".
4. In the event, its frequent reference to "conspiratorial forces disappointed by, and bent on, scuttling the Pretoria Agreement" is as disingenuous as it is untenable. In as far as Eritrea is concerned, the Pretoria Agreement is a purely Ethiopian affair. Let us also recall - the beans have been spilled now by Getachew Redda's multiple confessions - that the Potemkin Party was scheming against Eritrea (Djibouti and Seychelles events) months before the negotiations and signature of the Pretoria Agreement.
In a nutshell, the quest for enduring regional peace and stability that the peoples of the Horn of Africa deeply cherish and deserve has been, and continues to be, jeopardized by the Potemkin Party's delusional policies.

Bini crashed early but showed unyielding courage — fighting his way back to the peloton and sprinting to 4th at the intermediate sprint for 14 crucial points on Stage 2 of Tour Du France 2026.
The defending green jersey champion is already signaling he's ready to battle for it again on the flat stages ahead.
Resilience like this is why Bini is a fan favorite. 🇪🇷
The Egyptian president’s security detail prevented the Syrian president from approaching President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi.
The two leaders attended today’s Cyprus meeting between the European Union and regional partners.
Sisi’s seat was placed next to the Syrian president, yet the two did not exchange words, amid clear reluctance from the Egyptian side.
During the group photo, the Syrian president attempted to break the ice by speaking to President Sisi

On the margins of the 62nd Session of the UNHRC, Eritrea's delegation has held a series of bilateral meetings with Permanent Representatives of several countries and also addressed the Africa Group.
The delegation further participated in the meeting of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations.
The critical issue is of course whether the penholders (essentially the EU under the prodding of some Member States) will again persist in their unwarranted campaign of harassment against Eritrea for the defunct geopolitical motives that we all know.
Equally important is whether other members of the Council will shed diplomatic inertia, and/or, discard narrow political horse-trading to reject the obsolete draft resolution without equivocation.
