@danwiederer Indiana is better for Illinois
Imagine getting to keep NFL franchise and a lot of the traffic it drives, for free, because another state paid for it
No risk ROI
@AndrewBrandt They eroded their leverage with Ind. Hammond is more appealing to Chicago bloc than AH. It gives Chicago and Illinois some milk without buying cow
And it keeps Bears while also giving Pritzker political loss, which is what some Illinois republicans want
Brought out IN too soon
@paschutz Which is why it was a big misstep by Warren, if the Bears prefer AH site
They made it more difficult to get votes
You don’t use IN until after voting in Illinois
@iammikedix@Chicago_NFL AH deal? By getting votes in last week’s bill
Odds of that eroded when Bears presented better option (Wolf Lake) for Chicago voters, losing Chicago votes for AH deal
@DouglasTS@JWMediaDC Agree. B12 competing w/ ACC. They needed ESPN to decline option. Now need BIG
If BIG adds ND & best ACC, B12 survives as ESPN/Fox filler conference, with some Paramount. Would love to see espn use this as way to be long on BIG & ND, plus share DTC w/ Fox
@DouglasTS@JWMediaDC I think they’re in trouble either way. They really need BIG to gut ACC, otherwise espn has all they need in M2 filler
Without ESPN, what’s the market? PAC found out it’s not much
Redbird/Paramount interesting. Can they get entities willing to invest major $$ to disrupt?
@DouglasTS@JWMediaDC Why? Before hand just means you have all buyers hesitant to spend, saving to try to get BIG
After, you’re more likely to have motivated buyers
I think they’re also hoping BIG does to ACC what we did to PAC
@ComatoseCaleb@FlowsAndolini Why would they? They have the leverage. Bears want AH, yet the ROI is good for Illinois if they move closer to Chicago in Wolf Lake. A lot of the milk without buying cow. Plus that type of site less likely to cannibalize other Illinois commercial areas that pay more in taxes
@jc_bradbury Fans of political parties care far more than fans of the Bears
IMO Illinois taxpayers are fortunate that republicans think they benefit from having Bears leave state under Pritzker.
Chicago and Illinois will retain some commerce without any giving in to extortion
@JendersII Where would they build in Chicago?
He’s awful, but also irrelevant
Downtown doesn’t have what Bears want
AH does, but Bears are bad at politics
