The History of first US diplomatic relations began with with the appointment of Benjamin Franklin as U.S Minister to France in 1778.

A first US consulate was established and Benjamin Franklin became the first ambassador.

This ID card was issued to famous actress Marilyn Monroe by US Dept of Defense in 1954

Note her name listed as "DiMaggio, Norma Jeane"

Monroe used this when she performed for the troops in Korea while she and Joe DiMaggio were on their honeymoon.
