Every week Israeli settlers march through the Old City of Hebron, accompanied by the army, harassing Palestinians on their way. Sometimes these marches turn into full-scale pogroms, with settlers burning Palestinian businesses and attacking people with impunity.
Yesterday was on the less violent side, but the soldiers still harassed the locals and the journalists, and closed down Palestinian stores.
We’ve been covering settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank for years.
But yesterday, we found ourselves on the menu.
A group of masked settlers beat our team and pummelled the 51 year old woman we were interviewing unconscious.
We’re all ok now - and Aida is out of the hospital - but this is just one incident among an unprecedented surge in settler violence across the West Bank.
Here’s out story on yesterday’s attack on Sunday Today on @NBCNews.

This is a Big Deal. The 14,000-ton Italian aircraft carrier GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI 551, decommissioned in 2024, has left Taranto for Indonesia where she will become that country's first aircraft carrier. GARIBALDI is a handy-sized ship, in very good condition and eminently sensible for Indonesia, which has been steadily modernizing its fleet, including acquisition of new Italian-built PPA frigates. Ship seen here passing thru the Navigable Canal at Taranto, likely for the last time, manned by a mix of Italian and Indonesian personnel
Dana Bash is an anti-Semite and it's the duty of every decent person to denounce her for what she said here: blaming American Jews for attacks on them because of their support for Israel, even implicitly suggesting Jews deserve it. Disgusting. And Dangerous. cc: @ADL
Indonesia’s First Aircraft Carrier Begins Journey Home.
Italy’s decommissioned Giuseppe Garibaldi aircraft carrier has departed Taranto, Italy, marking the beginning of its transfer to Indonesia.
The carrier is expected to arrive in Indonesia between September 15 and 20, before officially entering service on September 25 as KRI Gajah Mada.
Transferred to Indonesia free of charge by Italy, the Garibaldi will become the Indonesian Navy’s first aircraft carrier, representing a major milestone in the country’s naval capabilities.
Israeli official speaks to Australia's ABC about the strike he ordered on World Central Kitchen that killed Jacob Flickinger and 6 other aid workers.
Says he's not sorry, that WCK has Hamas links and is "not really an organisation you can say is innocent."

The name Lake Ontario comes from the Wendat word Ontari’io, which, appropriately, means “the lake is beautiful, the lake is big”.
The name is more than 400 years old, predating both the Confederation of Canada and the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America.
We know that America is changing. Their trading relationships, their foreign policies, their national monuments, their hydronyms.
Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario – then, now and always.
"I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu)..."
On August 25, 1991, a 21-year-old student sent a message to a Usenet newsgroup. He thought he was just building something fun for himself.
35 years later, that "hobby" is the backbone of global technology:
🚀 Powering helicopters in space with NASA
☁️ Running the global cloud and 100% of the world’s supercomputers
📱 Connecting billions of people
🎮 Redefining the future of handheld gaming
What started as one student's side project became the greatest collaborative technology movement in history. Thank you to every maintainer, contributor, and advocate who made it possible.

Israel's Be'er Sheva looked set to be heading for the Champions League league phase.
They were leading Azerbaijan's Sabah Baku 4-3 on aggregate with just seconds to go.
But in the last action of the match, Sabah were given a corner, and Tellur Mutallimov converted from Tymoteusz Puchacz's cross to send the game to extra time.
