They want to stop Keke riders from carrying small loads—and now Keke and Okada riders in Delta State are planning to protest. These are their reasons:
— The government has reportedly ordered them to remove their trampoline covers, which they use to shield passengers from rain and carry small loads that help them earn extra income.
@DSGovernment, before enforcing this, we need to ask: Do you have alternative jobs to offer them? How much do you think these hardworking men and women earn from Keke transportation daily?
This same administration still collects ₦7,000 in tax from them—so if you stop them from carrying small goods, how are they expected to survive? How will they pay the touts on the road? How will they feed their families?
@RtHonSheriff your government has not created jobs, yet you’re trying to take away the little means of survival left for the common man.
Most of these riders go all day without a single passenger—it’s the little loads they carry that help them survive. Is this fair?how long will Deltans continue to suffer like this?
Before taking away their livelihood, at least provide something better.
@RtHonSheriff what’s going on?
