Join me in praying for the Harrison Preschool staff, teachers, families and children. After a long summer of planning and preparation, they welcomed back a house-full of 2’s, 3’s and 4 year-olds. May God bless this ministry and keep them all healthy and well.
Without love between Christians the message of what God has done for the world in Jesus rings hollow. The world is in desperate need of hope and the ones who hold the message are tearing each other apart.
If you truly want God, look among the poor, the sick, the homeless, the refugee, the migrant, the marginalized. This is where Jesus invites us to find God: "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me" (Mt 25).
I am so proud of our team who continues to raise the quality of the worship broadcast each week. We pray that you are blessed by it and are able to truly worship God from wherever you are.
God has no need to be defended by anyone and does not want His name to be used to terrorize people. We call upon everyone to stop using religions to incite hatred, violence, extremism and blind fanaticism. #HumanFraternity
Faith always calls us into deeper water. Perhaps this might be where our ego drowns and we learn to float. The uncertainty of whether we will survive has the power to teach us to trust the One who already knows.
Lowered expectations lead to lack of interest. The most common message of American Christianity is not Christian at all. It is full-on humanism. “How to be a better person”. Rather than “mortify thyself”. Jesus bids his followers come and die.
Merciful God,
we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart.
We have failed to be an obedient church.
We have not done your will,
we have broken your law,
we have rebelled agains your love,
we have not loved our neighbors,
and we have not heard the cry of the needy.
Tent communities have been a reminder that some people do not have a home, and this has challenged our community’s consciousness. We've answered frequently asked questions about the encampments, and shared how to help end homelessness in Charlotte. https://t.co/z8fErIu79L
We are born with a seed of dissatisfaction in search of fulfillment. Our heart, even without knowing it, thirsts for the encounter with God and seeks it, many times taking the wrong road. When our dissatisfaction encounters Jesus, the life of grace begins.
