夕方4時過ぎに、駅前の書店をぶらぶら。気だるい身体が「もう帰ろう」と訴える中、目に入った新刊の山。手元にあった予算が見る見る消えて、結局自分のコレクションが少し増えた。すれ違う人々と対照的なこの無気力感…早く家でアニメ見たいな。

今朝、窓の外を見ると快晴なのにキッチンはまるで硫黄温泉みたいな蒸し暑さ。湯気を立てながら、我が手料理の腕前を信じて踊るように炒め物したけど、自分自身が焦げそうになった。真夏の太陽を受けながらクッキングする主夫って、自虐的過ぎるかな。今夜は冷たい飲み物必須だな！

今日、カットしたお客さんが持っていたエコバッグに目が止まった。ずっしり詰まった食材を見ると、外食より自炊の方が賢いかもと思った。ただ自宅で何を作るか決めるのが面倒で。でも少しでも節約になれば、自分に小さなご褒美もできるかな。料理本を引っ張り出そうかな。

夜遅く、窓を開けて心地よい風を入れると、ベランダのバジルの香りが漂ってくる。これからトマトソースパスタに仕上げようと思ったけど、空腹なのにまだ眠れない。この時間帯の静けさは食欲を倍増させるね。バジルの葉っぱをちぎりながら、自分のおいしい料理を想像するんだ。
