Tredegar Town Council would like to thank and congratulate Karen Williams, BGCBC Town Centre Regeneration Team, for the work done on the Walkway area in town. Well done.
We listened and now we’re delivering.

The Chancellor has committed £25 million to boost the Welsh Labour Government’s investment to ensure the safety of disused coal tips – time and again ignored by successive Conservative governments.
When we said a vote for Labour would deliver change, that is what we meant.
Today’s Budget was proof that we have a partner in Westminster who is listening to what Wales needs.
My cabinet will now work to ensure that we use this new funding to fulfil the priorities I set out in September.

The landmark Worker Protection Act is in now effect.
By law, employers must take proactive and preventative measures to protect workers from sexual harassment.
Trade Unions will have a vital role to play in ensuring that this new duty is effective.
Take a look at our Sexual Harassment Toolkit to equip you with the information you need to help tackle sexual harassment and stop it from happening: https://t.co/6kCO84MNdO
My response to Rachel Reeves' budget.
The chancellor has inherited a broken economy that has suffocated our public services and led the UK to be the lowest investment economy in the G7.
Having demanded change to the fiscal rules and opposed any return to austerity, we welcome the government’s decision to loosen the borrowing straitjacket and commit substantial new money for our public services.
The government must now show the vision needed to use its increased borrowing power to invest immediately in our economic infrastructure to generate jobs. We will need concrete plans and a clear timeline for the fabled 650,000 green jobs. Workers in Grangemouth and the North Sea can’t afford to wait.
While we welcome the chancellor’s intention to rule out austerity, the devil will be in the detail.
On wealth tax: The chancellor’s continued failure to ensure the super-rich pay their fair share is a misstep. The 50 richest families in Britain are worth £500 billion. A one per cent tax on the richest one per cent would create £25 billion. The black hole gone and vital money in to support and enhance the UK’s public services.
It was disappointing that the decision to cut the winter fuel payment was not reversed. The government has tied itself in knots in picking the pockets of pensioners, cutting the winter fuel payment while the mega-wealthy remain virtually untouched. That is unfair and simply wrong. This issue will not go away as winter approaches and Unite will be leading the challenge for it to be reversed.
On the #NHS: The significant uplift in day-to-day spending for the NHS is much needed but the detail of how this will be spent is critical. We have a recruitment and retention crisis in the NHS with a shortage of over 100,000 staff. Scanners need people to use them.

Good to meet with @UniteSharon and @AndrewRangerMP today to support the hundreds of demonstrating constituents employed by Oscar Mayer, who are attempting to use fire and rehire tactics to push them onto worse contracts.
Labour's Employment Rights Bill will end fire and rehire.
With hundreds of constituents employed by Oscar Mayer facing threats to pay and working conditions as a result of fire and rehire, I asked the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government today for timescales on bringing our banning of the practice into force:
🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨
Our @unitetheunion members have voted to accept accept the Welsh Government’s 2024 NHS pay deal.
We would also like to emphasise that this pay deal must be the beginning and not the end of pay restoration

At 9:13am on October 21st 1966 a coal waste tip collapsed onto the mining village of Aberfan tragically killing 116 children and 28 adults.
Today, we remember all those who lost their lives.
We will never forget them.
Striking Oscar Mayer workers returned to Aldi in Wrexham this morning as their fight against #FireAndRehire continues.
@AldiUK customers are being affected by ready meal shortages, will they call on Oscar Mayer to sort this out and put an end to their fire and rehire plans?
With Labour governments in Cardiff and Westminster, we have a once in a generation opportunity to build a fairer, greener, more prosperous future for all.
Let’s seize this moment.

Unite pensioner members will protest at #LabourConference2024 & delegates will vote on Unite's motion to reverse the #WinterFuelPayment cut later this week. Join us in Liverpool at lunchtime or share online and tell the Govt to think again! 📣
Moving the #WinterFuelPayment motion to Wednesday when the 'lights are out' at conference is a tin-eared approach by @UKlabour. People are talking about the fuel allowance and to shut it down at your own conference is not a good look. #LabourConference2024
