@crimson_lux you had valid points also! this conversation just shows how multifaceted psych is HAHA many elements to consider so it’s nice that we talked about the different sides of it
thank you!
@crimson_lux education is important but in a people-centered profession, empathy comes first
the immediate reaction shouldn’t be to point out their technical mistakes, but to ask, inquire, and check up on them 😊
@crimson_lux getting addicted to looking back on emotionally-abusive relationships can be deteriorating also so it Could be a valid use
but the thing is, ‘di naman sila required i-justify ‘yung paggamit nila if it helps them recognize and validate what they’re going through +
@crimson_lux see: stanford article uses relapse as in reverting to bad habits (not going to the gym, eating junk food)
https://t.co/upJMBq9ORv
using all these definitions in different contexts can coexist in one space because psych is just that dynamic and wide-reaching 😁
@crimson_lux yup! still, my primary point is that relapse is a verb that has a general definition so there is no point in acting condescending towards others who use them out of clinical contexts
anxiety is also a serious disorder but other uses of “anxiety” does not downplay the disorder
@crimson_lux i, too, advocate for the recognition of psych as a medical concern!
but psychology isn’t Just that also 😁 that’s why there are many perspectives in psych because a someone’s psyche shouldn’t just be defined by objective checklists
@crimson_lux hi! my point was to not downplay the meaning of relapse in clinical terms
context is important, and i don’t think it’s the most productive thing to focus on Lecturing and Policing others
because: i have anxiety vs im having anxiety are different usages yet both are valid
Kaya we need to explore. +
@riyanportuguez isa po kayo actually sa mga idol ko talaga sa science communication in the psych field!
i watched one of your tiktoks on relapse po to inform my stance sa discourse na ‘to 😁
padayon po! pagpatuloy niyo po sana ‘yung pagpapalago ng awareness sa psych in mainstream media 🫶
@riyanportuguez ‘yan po talaga ang kagandahan ng psych as a field ! sobrang holistic,, maraming perspectives at maraming approach para mahanap kung ano ‘yung naaayon sa bawat tao 🫶 thank you po for articulating so well the need for a cultural, people-centered approach to psych!
