@OliverDowden@DCMS@OliverDowden you continue to obfuscatory and duplicitous on this point. The £1.57bn support package has been earmarked to support infrastructure NOT artists. Artists are being actively encouraged/forced to retrain #Fatima clearly confirms this so why the denial now?

@LBC Govt policy has prevented artists and musicians from working - the West End and many music venues have never reopened. What would @Keir_Starmer do to provide support to the artists in our multi billion pound arts sector many of whom have received nothing?

Our cultural, sporting & creative industries will be vital to our national recovery – they're about who we are as a nation.
They have been, and can still be, successful and powerful drivers of jobs, growth & regeneration. They need help now, so they can grow again.
In solidarity with my colleagues who conducted themselves with such dignity in Parliament Square and in response to @RishiSunak's comments in relation to musicians retraining, I wanted to post a piece of music which is meaningful to me "NAIMA" #letmusiclive
My 3rd single of 2020 "Pythagoras" is available as a HQ download on @Bandcamp (link below) - Bandcamp is THE best way to directly support artists.....more music coming very soon! https://t.co/t91CKIdlSu

@cj_dinenage@OliverDowden@cj_dinenage and @OliverDowden these are highly considered and insightful words on the multidimensional roles musicians and artists play in a forward thinking and diverse culture such as ours. What we now need are concrete measures to prevent a cultural disaster for our country.
Yesterday I was pleased to reiterate my continued commitment to the arts, heritage & culture sector 🎭& its fantastic professionals at the Westminster Hall debate. We’re investing £1.57bn to help protect our cultural institutions across the country & the jobs that depend on them.
The Chancellor @RishiSunak needs to stop this talk about people in the creative industries going on and doing something else. These are proper jobs in the fastest growing sector in the UK. The government needs to realise this - actors, artists, musicians are vital to our economy
@RishiSunak Thank you for that clarification and a very welcome support package it is too @RishiSunak but you cannot keep glossing over the fact that ZERO of the £1.6bn grant will be allocated to the artists themselves as we currently stand.

We're delighted to announce the launch of our new campaign partnership with @MusiciansMvmtUK and our #MakeMusicWork campaign. This campaign will hope to secure a new support package to #MakeMusicWork and ensure musicians can start earning again.

Surprised to hear the Chancellor calling for musicians to retrain and get new jobs when you look at what a mess the singer Dido is making of NHS Track & Trace.
@MayorofLondon At last some wisdom, vision and sanity from one our leaders and policymakers. Ours truly is a WORLD CLASS industry in THE greatest city in the world - thank you for helping us get this across @MayorofLondon for the sake of ours and future generations!
#LetMusicLive
London’s cultural sector was thriving before Covid.
Our incredible musicians, artists, and other creatives help make our city the best in the world.
We must do everything we can to support them back into the work they love and have spent years training for.
@RishiSunak@ITVNewsPolitics Thank you for the retraction @RishiSunak could please now clarify exactly what you DID mean in relation to the arts, what is it artists SHOULD be doing under the circumstances if not retraining from a Govt perspective? I await your response with interest.
#LetMusicLive
@OliverDowden@joymorrissey@DCMS All done by 3.32pm then.
There are no arts without the artists @OliverDowden....we are leaving in our droves....there can be no meaningful discussion about the future of the arts without addressing this...high time that you @RishiSunak put your heads together.
