Maharana Sangram Singh stands among the greatest figures in Indian history, not merely for his victories, but for the courage, vision, and integrity he embodied.

He was perhaps the only leader of his time who could unite both Hindu and Muslim armies. He defeated the Lodhis at Khatoli, Muzaffar Shah at Ahmedabad, and the Mughals at Bayana and went on to overcome the sultans of Delhi, Malwa, and Gujarat, extending his influence across much of present-day Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and northern Gujarat.

He also removed the jizya tax, reflecting his sense of justice and devotion for Dharma.

At Khanwa, he chose to face Babur despite his attempts at truce.

He commanded such deep respect among his followers that Hasan Khan Mewati refused Babur’s attempt to win him over through his captured son, and ultimately laid down his life fighting for the Maharana at Khanwa. In that battle, Hasan Khan Mewati stood firmly by his side with 5,000 troops. Even after Rana Sanga was wounded, Hasan Khan led the charge with great bravery, fighting fiercely until he fell in battle.

A rare embodiment of valor, leadership, and statesmanship-- a king complete in every sense.

What’s the graver offense, trying to throw a shoe at someone or taking a bribe to deliver justice? The answer is obvious.

Yet, lawyer Rakesh Kishore was suspended by bar council within hours of the CJI shoe incident, while an “honorable” judge, whose house was found stuffed with piles of cash, and who has been indicted by a Supreme Court panel with impeachment recommended, continues to sit on the bench and dispense judgments with full authority.

A shoe doesn’t erode the judiciary’s respect, it’s the judges’ own conduct and the absence of accountability that do.
