حکمرانوں کو کیا خبر کہ اس ایک انٹرویو کے پیچھے کتنے برسوں کی بھوک، کتنی راتوں کی بے چینی، کتنے اپنے خوابوں کی قربانی چھپی ہوتی ہے۔ اس باپ نے اپنے پیٹ پر پتھر رکھ کر، اپنی خواہشوں کو مار کر، اپنے لختِ جگر کو پڑھایا ہے۔ اس کے ہاتھوں کی لکیروں میں مزدوری کی تھکن ہے، مگر دل میں صرف ایک امید ہے کہ شاید آج اس کی محنت رنگ لے آئے۔

اللہ ایسے والدین کی قربانیوں کو قبول فرمائے اور ہر محنت کرنے والے باپ کے بیٹے کو کامیابی عطا کرے۔ آمین۔

She was not born Muslim.

She was not born Pakistani.

She chose both. And gave everything to both.

Begum Ra'ana Liaquat Ali Khan. Born Irene Ruth Margaret Pant. 1905. Almora, India. Raised in a Christian Brahmin family. Educated at the University of Lucknow. Double MSc in Economics. Professor of Economics in Delhi.

In 1932 she converted to Islam and married Liaquat Ali Khan. Her family was uncomfortable. She was resolute.

She became Economic Adviser to Jinnah's Pakistan Movement Committee. Mobilised her own students to boycott the Simon Commission. Travelled to London in 1937 to bring Jinnah back to India. Historians say that mission changed the course of the movement.

1942. Jinnah told her to train Pakistan's women.

She organised the first Muslim women's volunteer medical corps in Delhi.

1947. Pakistan was born. Ra'ana drove trucks to refugee camps and distributed food with her own hands. Florence Nightingale of the camps. Founder of the Women's National Guard. Brigadier. Founder of the Women's Naval Reserve. Founder of All Pakistan Women's Association.

1951. Her husband was shot dead on a public stage in Rawalpindi.

She never stopped.

First Muslim woman delegate to the United Nations 1952. First Pakistani female ambassador 1954. First female Governor of a Pakistani province 1973. Fought Zia's discriminatory laws against women in her seventies.

UN Human Rights Award 1978.

Died 1990. Beside her husband. Near the Quaid.

She chose Pakistan before Pakistan existed.

Pakistan chose to call her its mother.

Mader-e-Pakistan.

According to unconfirmed information, the Russian Su-35 was shot down while trying to shoot down a Ukrainian F-16 with an R-37/77 air-to-air missile.

The F-16 was reportedly pretending to drop glide-bombs, while in reality, it, covered by 2 additional F-16s, was trying to ambush the Russian aircraft.

The interception attempt by the F-16 reportedly failed, but a Patriot system deployed around 60 km from the frontline as a backup launched an interceptor at around the same time, shooting down the Su-35 as it was in the small window of engagement within range of the Patriot system.
