i became good at pretending. i became so good that after a while the lines blurred between my truth and fiction. and sometimes, when i did a really good job of pretending, i even fooled myself.
Oliver rubbed the back of his neck for a second; the shyness catching up with him for a moment.
“I’m glad that you do” he admitted. “It’s definitely a good thing” he paused for a second, “rare as well these days” he added.
Oliver nodded ever so slightly, brushing his hand through his hair for a second but knowing not to push that.
For a second he hesitated but not in a bad way, “I can do that, yeah” he replied.
“Damn right it does” he answered with a soft laugh to follow the words, a cheeky smile on his face at the same time.
While it may have been dorky to say, he still meant it.
Oliver looked away for a second, trying to think of any come back to that while also trying to hide the fact he had blushed a bit at that.
“Well it takes one to know one”… okay that was lame, but it was too late to take it back.
Oliver paused for a second, his mind running through what he was going to do or say next.
“If you change your mind about the revenge, let me know, I’ve got notebooks filled with options for someone who hurts a friend” he responded. It was a joke of course, but still.
Oliver let out a loud laugh at that, he had tried to hold it back but he couldn’t. Then he nodded his head, his eyes remaining on Poppy and an eyebrow raised slightly.
“That’s right, yeah” he responded, “I like that” he added quickly after.
Oliver laughed again. He gently ran his fingers through his hair for a second and then smiled, “how cute that you assume I have other friends” he joked with a cheeky grin as he looked over at her.
“You are special” he added more seriously that time.
" so scary ... "
She analyzed the place , then glanced up back at him , frowning a bit before giggling .
" so ... you bring every new friend here or am i special .ᐣ "
Oliver nodded his head “absolutely. Really really scary” he teased with a smile as he ran his fingers through his hair for a second as he looked around for a second, sort of double checking that it wasn’t too embarrassingly messy.
