I’m not a steel industry insider, and I don’t claim any particular expertise in the industry, but what I do know is that leading economies must retain the ability to produce virgin steel. Has anyone considered that the Chinese and Indian owners of our blast furnaces may be closing them down so that the UK is no longer a competitor in the market and will become even more reliant on steel produced in India and China, whose production processes rely on fossil fuel?

We should never have sold our steel industry to foreign interests and must now step in to prevent the dismantling of a strategic asset.

It's Net Zero that's causing the high prices. "Re-balancing" green taxes from electricity to gas is just a shell game. It won't reduce energy bills, just make renewables look a bit cheaper. Need to get drilling, stop renewables, cut carbon tax & VAT to bring bills down.
