#WATCH | Kolkata | On disbursement of funds to eligible women beneficiaries under State govt's Annapurna Yojana today, West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul says, "It is a historic day for our new government when every woman beneficiary will get Rs 3000 in her account under Annapurna Bhandar Yojana. This is a significant portion of the budget dedicated to women."
Some 117 busybodies, among them Kolkata nut Jawhar Sircar, have petitioned India and Pakistan governments to start talks. The provocation obviously is India’s abrogation of the Canal Waters Treaty of 1960 after the Pahalgam terror attack. Pakistan is beginning to feel the squeeze. And this is only the beginning.
One of the arguments the jokers offer is that if US and Iran could sit down for talks, why not blah blah blah.
The people of Pakistan may die of thirst and dehydration, but Pakistan will never be our friend, will never stop terrorism. Because Pakistan is ruled by the Army and the Mullahs - this Shahbaz Sharif is just a joker and a puppet. And the army and the Mullahs will lose their usefulness if there is peace between the two countries.
So Pahalgam, Pathankot, 26/11 etc will happen again and again. And Pakistan will keep making trouble. And we shall have to keep deterring them by throttling their water and other means, both fair and foul. Until Pakistan passes to effectively civilian rule, of which there is not the slightest possibility yet.
It is not as if only I know this and the busybodies don’t. So what are they talking about and WHY? One possibility is money, pure and simple. Another is humouring the Muslim minority in India, so that they rally behind the Congress. This question ought to be investigated immediately.
A long time back Israeli premier Golda Meir had famously said, “If the Arabs lay down arms, there will be no war; if we lay down arms, there will be no Israel. This is EXACTLY the situation between India and Pakistan. @narendramodi@DrSJaishankar@MEAIndia
Such a wholesome moment!
The father, an ex-Lt Gen himself, would've first received a salute from Gen Dhiraj Seth when he would've been commissioned as an officer.
And today, he receives a salute from him as he assumes command of the Indian Army!

Dei i am a true tamilian da. My kula deivam is thiruporur murugan. My name refers to the 6 mothers who nurtured murugan da. Also I care for Thiruparankundram and I want deepam to be lit on the deepathoon da. The entire hill belongs to only murugan da. If you are a real bhaktan of murugan , will you say with pride that entire hill belongs to murugan only?
"Born in the North, forged in the heartland, worshipped in the South" — an upcoming Jr NTR film described Lord Murugan as such.
Within minutes, Dravidianists on X erupted, calling it the theft of a Tamil god who belongs to the Tamil land alone.
The trouble is that Murugan has always been two gods in one:
- In the north he is Kartikeya, the celibate war-commander born of Shiva.
- In Tamil Nadu he is Murugan, young and beautiful, wed to Valli, a tribal girl of the hills.
That doubleness is not a contradiction to be fixed. It is how the god has lived and travelled for two thousand years, and a film tagline flattening it is merely tone-deaf.
But the Dravidianist outrage gives itself away.
Only months ago the very same god was at the centre of a real fight, on the hill of Thiruparankundram, where a sacred lamp-pillar stands near an old dargah.
When devotees tried to relight it for the Tamil festival of lamps, the Dravidian state government blocked them, and kept resisting even after the High Court ruled that lighting a lamp can offend no one.
The digital warriors who rose against a film poster were nowhere to be seen then. No hashtags, no essays, no fury at a government standing between Murugan and his own flame.
For these sections, it turns out, Murugan is only an ideological football.
As a follow, "Who do Gods belong to?" asks @CranksCorner.

Your allegation rests on a deliberate distortion of what the Raksha Mantri actually said.
His statement in Parliament was made in the specific context of demolishing the false and malicious propaganda that India had lost fighter pilots during #OperationSindoor, a narrative that was being aggressively amplified to undermine the success of the operation and demoralise the nation. To selectively quote one line while suppressing that context is not accountability; it is misinformation.
Even more reprehensible is your attempt to politicise the sacrifice of our brave soldiers.
The Government has never denied or diminished their martyrdom. On the contrary, their names have been inscribed on the National War Memorial, ensuring that their supreme sacrifice is honoured for generations to come. Their families have also been extended educational, healthcare and other welfare benefits in recognition of their service to the nation.
Operation Sindoor was a decisive military success, in which the Indian Armed Forces neutralised over 100 terrorists and Pakistani military personnel while inflicting extensive damage on Pakistani military infrastructure.
Those who spent months amplifying hostile propaganda have no moral authority to lecture anyone on respecting our Armed Forces. The only breach here is the Opposition’s repeated attempt to twist facts, dishonour the context of the Raksha Mantri’s remarks, and exploit the sacrifice of our martyrs for partisan politics.
There was a global crisis (& it's not entirely over). The reason we're now able to reverse the LPG prices is because our government remained level headed.
Don't expect the usual lot to acknowledge it but the citizens must appreciate this mature handling.
Japan and India to take step toward direct yen-rupee settlements

#WATCH | Delhi: Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth says, "...To tackle the challenges of this evolving security environment, we must advance the modernisation of the Army with renewed vigour and firm resolve. Our objective is to build a technology-enabled, future-ready Army that is empowered in every respect and capable of operating across multiple domains. Keeping these objectives in mind and drawing inspiration from the guidance provided by the Defence Minister under the 'Decade of Transformation', I have identified my key focus areas. I have consolidated them into an acronym: 'VIJAY'. Each letter of 'VIJAY' represents one of my priorities, and I will briefly outline them. The first letter is 'V'—for Vigilance and Readiness. We will maintain constant vigilance regarding our borders and emerging threats, and uphold a high level of operational readiness to effectively counter any challenge to national security. 'I' stands for Innovation and Transformation; my focus will be on both doctrinal and technological solutions. Innovation will be an integral part of our mindset, operational methods, and capability development. Furthermore, we will implement the transformations necessary to adapt to the evolving battlefield. 'J' stands for Jointness and Integration; to enhance the Indian Army's operational effectiveness, we will maintain synergy, complete coordination and alignment with the Air Force and the Navy. This integrated approach will enable us to participate in nation-building and propel us towards the goal of a 'Viksit Bharat 2047' (Developed India 2047). 'A' stands for Aatmanirbharta. Leveraging indigenous capabilities and technologies developed within the country, we will build a self-reliant Army. Our overarching aim will be to win wars using indigenous solutions...'Y' stands for 'Yoddha First' (Soldier First) is my guiding principle. In my definition, everyone from the newest Agniveer to the most senior veteran is a warrior, and these warriors constitute the greatest strength of our Army...On this occasion, I also pay my respects to General Upendra Dwivedi and all my former Army Chiefs, under whose vision and leadership the Indian Army has evolved into a strong, robust, and reliable force"
#WATCH | Delhi: Army Chief Gen Dhiraj Seth says, "It is a matter of pride and humility for me to assume the office of the 31st Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army today. I express my gratitude to the Prime Minister and the Defence Minister for placing their trust in me and entrusting me with the honour and responsibility of leading the Indian Army. I also pay my humble tribute to those brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation; their courage, devotion to duty, and selfless dedication will continue to inspire future generations"
