The Kaduna State Police Command has ordered a full-scale investigation into officers captured in a viral video circulating on social media, allegedly showing them extorting money from motorists and cyclists during a stop-and-search operation in a suburb of Millennium City.
The commandโs spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, said in a statement on Tuesday that the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, directed that the officers involved be identified and invited for investigation, with those found culpable to be sanctioned appropriately.
"The Command wishes to clarify that routine roadblocks and stop-and-search operations has been curtailed , except where there is credible intelligence on the movement of criminals, arms, or other prohibited items.
"The Command, however, notes that the route in the video has previously been used by criminal elements, itโs a suburb of millennium city. It was along the same route that Police operatives previously recovered 20 AK-47 rifles," the statement partly read.

A CRY FOR HELP FROM BINPER BY REV EZEKIEL DACHOMO
Today I speak to Nigeria and to the entire world with a heart that is deeply broken and with tears that words can hardly explain On this painful and heartbreaking day a Christian community in Binper Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State has once again been thrown into mourning after a deadly midnight attack that reportedly claimed the lives of at least 23 innocent people Several others were injured while some residents are still unaccounted for
The attack began around midnight and continued for more than three terrifying hours According to reports the attackers moved through the community from house to house forcing open doors and attacking innocent people in their sleep Young and old alike were caught in this terrible violence Families who should have been safe inside their homes were suddenly confronted with terror bloodshed and unimaginable loss
These were not just numbers These were fathers mothers grandparents children brothers sisters and young people These were human beings created in the image of God People with dreams families hopes and futures Tonight their loved ones are left asking questions that no family should ever have to ask
How many more lives must be lost before the world says enough is enough How many more mothers must bury their children How many more children must grow up without their fathers and mothers How many more communities must wake up to the sound of gunfire and the cries of grieving families
The Bible says in Psalm 34 verse 18 that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Today the people of Binper are brokenhearted Today families are crying Today children are grieving Today the wounded are fighting for their lives and they desperately need our prayers our compassion and our help
Those who survived with injuries have been taken to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention They need treatment They need medicine They need care Their families need support And the displaced need protection and assistance
I am pleading with the world please do not look away from Binper Please do not allow these precious lives to become forgotten statistics Please do not allow the suffering of Plateau State and the Middle Belt to become something the world simply scrolls past and forgets
Jesus said in Matthew 25 verse 40 that whatever we do for one of the least of His brothers and sisters we do for Him When you help a wounded person you are showing the love of Christ When you comfort a grieving family you are showing the love of Christ When you stand with persecuted communities you are answering the call of Scripture
The people of Plateau State deserve to live in peace They deserve to sleep in their homes without fear They deserve protection They deserve justice They deserve to raise their children without wondering whether another night will bring another attack
I am therefore pleading with the Federal Government of Nigeria the Plateau State Government security agencies humanitarian organizations churches Christian leaders and the international community Please act Please protect innocent communities Please investigate these attacks Please bring those responsible for killing innocent people to justice Please help the wounded and displaced
The Word of God says in Proverbs 31 verses 8 and 9 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves defend the rights of the poor and needy That is why I cannot remain silent
As a pastor and as someone standing with persecuted Christians I mourn with every family that has lost someone in Binper I stand with the wounded I stand with those searching for missing loved ones I stand with the children who have been traumatized by violence and I stand with every innocent person who is living in fear
@Jvnior People like you said this before the Iranian war, only to later keep mute. Same thing will happen if Turkey ๐น๐ท goes to war with Israel ๐ฎ๐ฑ
After making the complaint public yesterday, having personally witnessed the egregious violation of the rights of two young Nigerians including Bayero University Kano (BUK) student Maryam Isah Shehu, the @officialEFCC has now terminated the charges against them.
Unfortunately, the Federal High Court judge who sat yesterday and remanded them in Kuje and Suleja prisons respectively has not sat all day today, so their release is still being delayed.
We are glad that wisdom finally prevailed at the @officialEFCC
We must also thank Deji Adeyanju, @adeyanjudeji who, despite being on vacation in Paris, weighed in heavily; human rights attorneys @Abbahikima and Hamza N Dantani; and all the lawyers on the ground, particularly Chimela, Esq who have not rested all day, working tirelessly on the necessary paperwork to secure their freedom.
I was also informed that the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (@NANSNIG was at the Federal High Court today to lend its support and help secure Maryamโs freedom. Their solidarity is greatly appreciated.
We sincerely hope that Justice Joyce Abdulmalik will still show up and sit, even briefly, today so that Maryam can regain her freedom and commence her final examinations tomorrow.
If that does not happen in time, we urge the authorities of Bayero University Kano @BUK_Nigeria to take special notice of the extraordinary circumstances surrounding her detention and ensure that she is given the opportunity to rewrite any examinations she misses as a direct consequence of her detention.
An injustice against one is an injustice against all.
No one shall be left behind!
To Nigeria, the Church, our leaders, and the world:
Please pause and look at this casket.
Inside is not a statistic. It is a young evangelistโa son, brother, friend, and servant of God who dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel.
He returned to his hometown to bury a relative. He came home to mourn with his family. He never imagined that he would become the one lying in a casket.
He came home carrying grief, not a weapon.
Yet violence followed him home.
Behind this casket is a mother who will never hear her sonโs voice again. A family that must now bury someone who came home to help bury another. A church that has lost a servant. A life filled with dreams, memories, prayers, and purpose.
Please do not scroll past this as just another tragedy.
There is a name behind this casket.
There is a family behind it.
There is a life behind it.
Psalm 34:18 says, โThe LORD is near to the brokenhearted.โ
Lord, draw near to this family. Comfort his mother, strengthen his loved ones, and uphold his church.
Our faith does not mean we should be silent. We will continue to pray, but we must also continue to call for justice, protection, and peace.
How many more caskets must we see before we understand that these are not numbers, but human beings created in the image of God?
May his life not be forgotten.
May his Gospel continue to speak.
And may the day come when Nigerian families no longer gather around caskets because of violence, but around tables filled with laughter, worship, thanksgiving, and peace.
Lord, have mercy on Nigeria.
Protect the innocent.
Comfort the brokenhearted.
Strengthen Your Church.
Bring peace to our land.
Amen.
