Just released overnight - Ready for My Surgery: Be Informed, Stay Safe, and Take Control During Your Journey Through Surgery. Proud of this work, the new friendships I've made, and the opportunity to support patients during a challenging experience.🚀 https://t.co/rgW4LA71HX
Looking for resources to support patients as elective surgeries resume—can’t find much. More important than ever to prioritize the integration of patients and families into healthcare teams. Any good resources out there?
Important results: Remember the 2 MO hairstylists who saw 140 clients over 8 days while infected with COVID but everyone had worn masks? Contact tracers found ZERO secondary infections. More evidence that masks work. https://t.co/yAgi1MeATk
I'm not sure if anyone's in the mood for this, given the state of N America right now, but I keep getting asked whether another wave of COVID-19 is "possible".
I think that it is all but a certainty. Why are multiple waves a signature feature of pandemics?
disappointment alone won’t be effective public policy.
need clearer communication of risks, more testing/tracing in tandem for more people and behavioural science to inform the way policies are rolled out.
design of public spaces as public health more important than ever.
A superb article on the #coronavirus by @edyong209 that is well worth reading in its entirety. https://t.co/r0TSwhJQBK Mostly for my own sake, I've summarized the points that impacted me most, in this thread.
@NightShiftMD My experience at the Hospital for Sick Children was very good—having received difficult news for a child, their team approach was helpful. Worth talking to them.
@OmarIshrak, it was your inspirational leadership that drew me to @Medtronic. I’ve been part of @MedtronicCA for over two years now and my only regret is not having met you in person! You’ve set a remarkable example for us all. All the best to you.
Heartfelt thanks to all 90K+ @Medtronic employees who have inspired & encouraged me every day for 9 yrs. Leading MDT has indeed been an honor & a privilege. I know under @GeoffMartha’s leadership, we will reach new levels of performance, striving every day to fulfill our Mission.
There was a dead ash tree in our front yard. My wife, Tabitha, had an idea to turn it into a sculpture featuring books and animals. The sculptor was Josh Landry. He did it with a chainsaw.
How amazing is TeamUHN? @UHN put out a call to voluntarily work in a Long Term Care Home that’s struggling - got more than 70 volunteers - RNs, SWs, Admins, etc. - and 18 MDs. The Home didn’t really need any more docs so... they volunteered to serve as Personal Support Workers!
Proud of our @Medtronic team for again working across organizational boundaries to bring industry peers together to quickly create this innovative and valuable training tool for healthcare workers on the front lines facing #COVID19. #HelpingHeroes
