Check out my latest delivery from @PlantPrepped. Due to arrive on Wednesday, but showed up after 5pm Friday!?! Most of the produce (kale, broccoli, bell pepper, cucumber, peas) looks really rough, the ice pack long having melted. Unsubscribe.
This fall, the Manitoba and Ontario governments passed legislation providing employees with up to 27 weeks of leave without fear of losing their job. This aligns their policies with the federal government’s extended Employment Insurance (EI) sickness benefits. It's a sorely needed safety net to protect those who temporarily take time off work because of a serious illness like #Crohns or #colitis.
Thank you to all the staff and volunteers in these provinces who advocated for this legislation and joined discussions with elected officials. Thank you to the Honourable Malaya Marcelino and the Honourable @DavidPiccini for leading these changes.
We’re also grateful for the team advocacy effort alongside other health charities. Ontario and Manitoba now join Nova Scotia and Quebec in providing job-protected leave for those experiencing serious illness.

Thank you, Minister @DavidPiccini, for your leadership and the opportunity to provide input on job-protected leave. It's important that those living with episodic illnesses, such as Crohn's and colitis, have the opportunity to return to work if they're able @getgutsycanada
