@ItsBCJim Here in Philly I keep seeing similarly framed stories about teens existing in public; "Cops came out to stop 100 teens from walking around in public. Nothing was damaged and noone was hurt at any point but it's a good thing we made sure the teens couldn't be outside!"
@BFlargle @Venneh Forbes consists entirely of blog posts by unverified contributors. You'd know that if you had any media literacy at all. The author of the article you linked to is a random republican crank who goes around saying he's the CEO of a company he founded with no employees.
@hunktears You want it to write sitcoms? OK let's reduce the training set to sitcom scripts. Oops it's spitting out verbatim scenes from Frasier now, better burn a couple terawatts adjusting and retraining it
@hunktears Yes, I don't work directly on training ML models but I write software and understand the basic concepts, and I'm not even convinced this tech even COULD be "improved" beyond its current state in the way people are thinking because so much is a balancing act.
@septa_lemore Whoops just checked and I didn't have that quite right; it was a slack channel for foodies, and managers regularly hijack it to ask for recipes for their whole 30 diets or whatever fasting BS they're doing
@septa_lemore Once you realize it you see it everywhere. There's an entire slack channel at my office where mostly managers post whatever fad diet they're doing that boils down to calorie restriction, and then people swap tips and recipes for "sticking with it". Unbelievably dark.
@RottenInDenmark I keep seeing stories like this one in various feeds and feel like the media at large is rushing to prop up the narrative that vaccines are dangerous when the actual story seems clear that a computer found a statistical blip that disappeared upon inspection
@gropeforluna @so_treu The thing I'm optimizing for is reducing the roundtrip from brain to "paper" - I found it very frustrating just to wait for a DAW to spin up on a desktop. The ideal would be something that was light and tactile that I could also export to a more powerful DAW after the fact
@gropeforluna @so_treu I've only got mild ADHD so ymmv; I played reed instruments from 1991-2003 and then started keyboard lessons in 2019. It's kind of limiting but I do my composing in Garageband on an iPad because it's the most lightweight interface I've encountered so far
