I have been in touch with your attorney Kevin Morris briefly a couple of years ago. One of his claims in the various lawsuits arising from the laptop saga is that Rudy Giuliani and Steve Bannon were making "mixtapes" of the material. Having seen versions of it that were distinct from one another, I can corroborate that to a limited extent. It at least does not seem absurd to me.

More to the point, I have been sued by the man who first "authenticated" the materials on the laptop, Yaacov Apelbaum, essentially covering the libel risk for the Murdoch publications that ran the materials first and most extensively. He has now come rather close to perjuring himself, first denying any association with the notorious Indian hacker Rajat Khare in discovery responses to me under oath. Then, just prior to trial, his legal team conceded there was indeed a licensing agreement between his company in Long Island and one in Singapore by the same name, in which Khare was an investor. Some of his uses of my writing, containing dishonest redactions, also come rather close to falsification of evidence. Mr. Khare is one of the most notorious practitioners of lawfare against journalists anywhere in the world, and his deeply criminal company Appin has hacked Native American tribes on Long Island, according to Reuters. I have several motions to vacate before the judge in the EDVA, which are likely to be ruled upon soon. They raise this question, and several others, like whether it can ever be defamatory to call an intelligence officer in the IDF an Israeli spy.

While I have not made any claim disputing the origin story we have been told about the laptop, because I am not as yet able to substantiate my suspicions, I have always found the story of the laptop repair store a little too caper-like. The hacker association, which is now a matter of public record, certainly raises some questions about the origin of those materials.
