A little life update… On April 18th I was diagnosed with Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma (Thyroid Cancer) It was definitely a shock to hear that I have the “C” word at such a young age and everything moved very fast. Last Thursday I underwent a full thyroidectomy along with a left and right neck dissection to remove my thyroid and the surrounding lymph nodes. I will be doing a radioactive iodine treatment in a few weeks that should lead me to full recovery. I am extremely grateful that this type of cancer has a 99% cure rate and that I will be making a full recovery and return to the field in no time. While this journey has been overwhelming at times, I’ve been surrounded by an incredible support system of family, friends, coaches, and healthcare professionals who have carried me through each step. This chapter may have started with fear, but it’s already being rewritten with strength, healing, and hope for the future. His way not My way.
It was great closing out spring practices and breaking bread with some of our incoming #CTM25 class, friends and family of current Blugold Football players, UWEC alumni, and @UWECWrestling. We felt the LOVE from Blugold Nation tonight!
Climb on.
