My dogs came into my life when the doctor told me I had cancer. I went and adopted two long time shelter dogs who had thought no one would ever love them.

I went to the shelter and saw Rich first in the back of the kennel like his life was over I adopted him. Then I saw Ronny and he came up to me and licked my hand. I adopted him.

I felt like I needed companions during this time of pain and unknown. I didn't know what was going to happen but I know I needed love to always surround me and that's what I found in Rich and Ronn .

I needed to laugh and they make me laugh all the time. I needed to cry and they gave me a soft place to do it. I needed a friend and they gave me a paw. I beat cancer and I owe them everything for giving me all the love and compassion I could ever need.

I love you guys you are my everthing ❤🙏

I don’t want them anywhere near my 2-year-old son or my dogs.

But with no meaningful accountability or intervention, one day they could be.

These “children” will grow up.

They can travel. They can study overseas. They can work overseas. They can move overseas.

They could live next door to you.

And there is a reason this should concern people far beyond animal welfare.

Research has found that serious animal cruelty in childhood is associated with an increased risk of later violence toward humans.

Yet in China, extreme animal cruelty like this can simply go largely unaddressed.

That is the problem.

When children demonstrate this level of deliberate violence, it is a warning sign. Ignoring it does not make the risk disappear.

And that risk does not stop at China’s border. China is choosing not to address this risk. The rest of the world may end up living with it.

China should take that seriously.

So should everyone else.

One early morning I thought I spotted a big cat. I got up early and put food out. He came and then a pattern was set. He eventually started showing up in daylight. I got him to go in the garage but in the rain the aluminum roof scared him. In a rain storm he was running passed the front door. I asked him if he wanted to come in. He hesitated and then came in. And hasn’t left. It’s his house.
