In 1990, Minneapolis was 91% white. With a homogenous, tight-knit mostly Scandinavian population, they built a state and local social safety net that exceeded nearly everywhere else.

Today Minneapolis is about 20% Somali. Their Congressional representative is a Somali who hates America. Their state attorney general is a Nation of Islam Muslim. They nearly elected a Somali mayor, and he only lost because of tribal disputes among Somali voters.

Crime is way up, swaths of the city are decaying no-go zones. The city has 200 fewer police than it did before George Floyd’s death in 2020. Women are routinely abducted and raped. Residents with the means to do so are fleeing.

Like Canada, this is a cautionary tale.
