@Areltoid @Sinnoware Don't get the Part 1 edition, upgrading to get the rest of the game currently would cost more than just getting the $28 Woa standard edition. Don't buy deluxe, if you specifically want the deluxe content there's a separate dlc for it anyway.

@BluntandExiled @jiyunaJP Shield is in a good place now, but it still adds a layer of RPS besides the standard low/high/grab. Shield can be punished hard, but the back and forth shield counters get a little messy.
Overall I think some people just don't want new system mechanics they have to learn.

@kyl0oo It's tricky at first since there's a lot of options, and shield adds another RPS layer, but the execution isn't that hard. The community is great, I'm sure you can get some help:

@Mahjongani Shield mechanic is still relevant and something you have to use and play against thoughtfully, but you can usually spend meter on BC counter to reset neutral if you don't want to play rock/paper/scissors.
Overall the movement in the game is great, much faster than strive

@Mahjongani Melty Blood has some new blood right now, w/ 300-400 active players, it's the best time to get into the game.
I'm relatively new to Melty so I can't comment in depth about the state, but the complaints people had at launch about the shield mechanic have been addressed.
