May is Mental Health Awareness Month. So I want to use this opportunity to spread awareness. Everyone struggles with Mental Health at some point. Even the best athletes in the world:
Michael Phelps – The most decorated Olympian of all time struggled with depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts, particularly after the 2012 Olympics.
Serena Williams – The tennis legend experienced postpartum depression after the birth of her daughter in 2017.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson – Before his Hollywood career, Johnson faced severe depression after injuries ended his football career.
Simone Biles – During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles withdrew from several events to prioritize her mental well-being
Val Whiting – A 2x National Champion and Stanford Legend, I would avoid eye contact with my WNBA coach so I wouldn’t have to go in.
Kevin Love - An NBA champion and Timberwolves legend- experienced panic attacks during a game and went on to say, “Depression doesn’t care who you are.”
These are massive names.
People you wouldn’t expect to struggle with mental health, but they were.
I’m doing this to show you that you’re not alone. And nothing is wrong with you.
Life has its ups and downs, but trying to go through it by yourself is where people get hurt.
Find someone you can talk to and start with small wins.
You will get through it.
Just like I did.
♻️Repost this to help me get this message out to the world. Too many people still think they’re alone in this battle.
