every person that is anti-AC for climate change reasons should also give up their heater. heating contributes 4x the emissions that cooling does. if you are cold you should simply wear more clothing. this will save the earth and prove that you are Good and Moral.
On Threads they’re debating whether using big words is ableist. I’m sick of this anti-intellectualism masquerading as social justice. People are making excuses to avoid having to do anything hard, but at some point you have to grow up and read and learn and challenge yourself.
*the most annoying know-it-all kid in class voice* you wouldn't have had a closet more than 200 years ago because clothing was kept predominantly in trunks
They'll never adapt Charlotte Brontes "Villette" no matter how much the people (me) keep asking for it. Every time a new period drama comes out, I cant help but think wistfully about the novels that keep getting ignored.
I recently found out that cats check in the morning to see if their human is still alive because we sleep for a really long uninterrupted time like 8-10 hours while cats sleep in short, light intervals. so apparently they quietly sniff our face to check if we’re still breathing and yesterday around 5am I felt my cat doing exactly that.🥹❤️
y’all have no respect for the ppl who make your life easier. the person making your morning coffee deserves a livable wage. the person stocking the groceries you buy deserves a livable wage. the person cleaning the restrooms in the office you work at deserves a livable wage.
Accuracy matters in Austen because society itself is a central character. To not even attempt to portray the society on which she comments defangs her brilliance.
Notably, this is why Clueless is such an excellent adaptation.
