@LegionVGMC@JustOylesine1i@asukagrypr My point was since everything is temporal and dying in this realm, to put our whole hope here is in vain, on a grand scheme of things. I hope for our species to survive in a non temporal, fulfilling realm. And I understand this may sound rather pessimistic, but it is not, for me
@LegionVGMC@JustOylesine1i@asukagrypr How so? You said it yourself. The suns temporal, just like everything else in this realm, including us or potential space people. Not really hopeful isn't it?
@JustOylesine1i@asukagrypr If he died for our sins and then brought himself back to life, he would redeem us ( humanity) while staying alive himself, so his first death would be opposite of vain
@mzbaharudin@davidicke Those oil paintings undergo oxidation after some time, thats why the layers darken, you could lighten the painting up with some chemical paste. Jesus most likely did not look african! The phenotype in the middle east can be seen by portraits of the roman era
@PattersonSonny@TheRevertsPath@Franci5_Perez@5solas About John the Baptist there are several non Christian jewish and i even think roman accounts of his influence, like flavius josephus eg. He did exist and even caused a revolt against King Herod indirectly. Theres a clear connection of Jesus and John
@PattersonSonny@TheRevertsPath@Franci5_Perez@5solas So we agree on Jesus being more than likely just one (real) person and not a collection of various random dudes. Thats a step. Nobody will of course be able to prove to you that these miracles happened. That requires faith and the works of the Holy Spirit as Jesus said.
@PattersonSonny@TheRevertsPath@Franci5_Perez@5solas healing, while arguing with the jewish religious class and being crucified by the romans for it. That doesnt sound like there were several Jesuses. Historians of that time testify that it was one man who somehow had relation to another very influential man= John the baptist
@PattersonSonny@TheRevertsPath@Franci5_Perez@5solas Yes there are minor details where they're not similar in story, like with the fate of juda iscariot. But let's be honest, the 4 gospels talk about 1 man, Jesus of Nazareth, a Jew, born of a virgin mary, being in contact with John the baptist, going on a mission of preaching and,,
@TheRevertsPath@PattersonSonny@Franci5_Perez@5solas I don't see how is says that in John, you may have misquoted? Even than, in Matthew 18:15 Jesus is telling to point out sins in your brothers and sisters, in order to win them over for salvation, not in a sense to judge for the sake of judgement, at least that's how I see it
@TheRevertsPath@PattersonSonny@Franci5_Perez@5solas I don't quite understand how those 2 passages are related? Authorship of 1 Peter isnt debated, but youre right that 2 Letter may not be from Peter, since it uses different greek and draws from Jude, which I didnt know.
@TheRevertsPath@PattersonSonny@Franci5_Perez@5solas Could you please name those differences or better what exactly did Jesus preach that Paul didnt amplify? Apostle Peter in one of his letters, was actually defending Paul from accusations similar of yours and others, Peter was one of the closest disciples to Jesus.
