𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 is key to understanding Extreme Wildfire Events #EWEs, but what data are we referring to❓

👉 The vertical profile of the atmosphere. This refers to variables inside the smoke plume such as temperature 🌡, humidity 💧, and wind speed 🌬.
👉 Evolution of the burning area (hourly perimeters) and fire behaviour (flame length, rate of spread, etc.) 🔥
👉 Smoke plume characteristics, including its height and evolution. 🌪
👉 Details about the wildfire scenario like fuel load and availability and weather conditions. 🌳🌤

This information helps us better analyse and predict wildfire behaviour, ultimately improving the safety and effectiveness of the response 💪, something crucial in the case of EWEs. Plenty of discussions and knowledge exchange on how to deal with wildfires with extreme behaviour.

❓What is an Extreme Wildfire Event (EWE)? 🔥🌪

👉A wildfire that, by modifying the structure of the atmosphere, propagates more quickly and burns more intensely than other wildfires.
👉Their behaviour can't be fully predicted.
👉All this makes it very difficult to fight them.
👉They pose a high risk to firefighters and society and can greatly damage natural values.

A better understanding of EWEs will help us face them. #EWED aims to advance the existing knowledge of EWEs and the capacity to prepare for and respond to these events. 💪
