We filed a formal Position Paper with every Schengen Embassy in Abuja this week calling for this to end.
Because paying for a service you were denied is not a policy. It is a penalty.

Nigeria's Schengen visa rejection rate in 2024: 45.9%
That is nearly 1 in every 2 applications refused.
Third highest in the world.
And for every refusal — the applicant still paid €90. Non-refundable.
Nigerian applicants lost over €4.5 million in visa fees last year.
