@Evanish@MattBilotti Same could be true of the person (biases, prejudice’s) but an AI could be programmed to prevent that and promote equitable care.
Super cool this is the world we live in now. Used to be all sci fi …
Imagine all doctors had access to an AI interface that helps w/ diagnosing.
We’ll reach a point where going against it would be like disagreeing with routes from Waze.
Some will do it, but only the very best should be trusted. It would be silly to do otherwise but most stubborn people (or those who didn’t grow up with the tech) will think they’re better at the job.
EX: I would trust an experienced city taxi driver to diverge from GPS suggestions because they have hyper-local experience and an intimacy with physical variables that a data set may not be able to make sense of can currently access. On the other hand, I don’t trust anyone over 50 that rarely drives a route to tell me a better way to drive it just because they think a GPS is unnecessary or because it “always takes them a weird way” so they’d rather just not use it.

Most doctors will (and should) follow the script. We’ll get to a point where it will be dangerous and borderline malpractice to disagree with the AI in a life-critical diagnoses.
And boy does that open a whole new can of worms…

Anyway, this thread is crazy. What an incredible use case. I hope the tech doesn’t get stonewalled from medicine and instead accelerates how practitioners can help patients in the near-term. It can do so much to help.
