@Liturgy I am confident he was the last. His execution was dramatic: preceeded by an his coffin painted with hell's flames, stone saints on his route were hooded, he was hung. The Times 26/8/1826
When I get my head round twitter again, I'd like to advertise Modern British Heresy https://t.co/3gkiDCGmvT. Just beginning. All your favourite UK and Irish heretics and some you've never heard of. #heresystudies,
After a long gap, retirement, house move into lockdown, I'm trying to focus on modern heresy .
Specifically: instances in Xn churches where heresy was alleged and some kind of formal action followed. 158 people to date (counting isn't straight forward).
@acplatt87 Apology 2: I see you're London based. What period are you interested in? After 1689, my start, I have so far found just 3 Baptists accused of heresy: Caffyn, 1699 'General'; & Beg & Stuart, 1776 'Scotch'. Do you know others? Thanks,
@acplatt87 A further thought: heresy is parasitic on orthy. As orthy changes so does heresy: therefore historiography re early church, medieval, inquisition etc is irrelevant and misleading.

Sorry - I focus on UK. For US see Shriver (ed) Dictionary of heresy trials, incl 13 baptist (more than any other denom). Very limited historiography because not a coherent field (despite ISHS).
Where NZ leads the rest will follow.
Some of the rest anyway. Sometime.
The Church of England will follow. As the state church it goes what the state leads, with just sufficient delay to maintain the fiction of independence. https://t.co/PGEt4l8iCY
After almost 50 years of earnest debate about human sexuality, the Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand has overwhelmingly said 'Yes' to blessing couples in committed same-sex relationships https://t.co/7ukgMpl2po #GSTHW18#Hinota18
Younger women tend to have a stronger preference for redistribution and see a larger role for the state compared to men.
Older women are more left wing in their economic policy preferences compared to men.

@giles_fraser a) Because those trained in philosophy risk seting finer-grained tests than reality permits & b) to be on the right side in retrospect.
