Today, many were shocked by yet another video of the drone “safari” Russians are carrying out against civilians in Kherson. A Russian drone deliberately hunted down a man selling vegetables and detonated right next to him. The Russians even admitted to the crime, showing zero regret and openly boasting about tormenting people. The man was wounded in the blast. Every single day, ordinary people in Kherson face these Russian "safaris."

The world must see this. It must see every piece of evidence that Russia has gone mad and that its soldiers take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians. Without pressure on Russia, the dismantling of its capacity for aggression, and real security guarantees, it is simply impossible to imagine the world being able to coexist with this evil. We must remain resolute in defending life. We must act and support life in ways that force Russia to seriously think about peace rather than expanding the range of its drones.

This is not just about Ukraine. Russia’s campaign against human life must be stopped here in Ukraine before it spreads further. Finland and Kazakhstan, the Baltic states and Poland, the countries of the South Caucasus, Romania, and Moldova—all should work together to ensure real security guarantees and bring Russia’s war to an end. Peace is needed, which requires cooperation among everyone in the world who truly values peace. Thank you to everyone standing with Ukraine!

The Gulf Stream could collapse as early as 2060.

A recent study from Utrecht University reveals that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), the engine behind the Gulf Stream, is weakening far more rapidly than earlier projections suggested. This vast ocean conveyor carries warm tropical water northward to Europe and sends cold water back south, moderating Northern Europe’s climate, sustaining global rainfall patterns, and stabilizing weather systems worldwide.

If the AMOC collapses, that equilibrium would shatter.

Researchers calculated that even under a moderate emissions pathway—limiting warming to 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) above current levels—there is a 37 % chance of AMOC failure by 2100. In high-emissions scenarios, the risk climbs to 70 %. Even the most optimistic models give a 25 % probability of collapse.

A shutdown would bring severe winters to Europe, widespread droughts, and devastating agricultural losses. Global precipitation belts would shift, and sea levels along the U.S. East Coast could surge by up to a meter or more.

In essence, the AMOC is a planetary tipping point—and we are nearer to triggering it than previously estimated.

European climate officials now label the threat a “national security priority,” yet coordinated global action remains inadequate.

The last major AMOC slowdown, 12,000 years ago, sparked abrupt regional climate swings. This time, with human societies far more interconnected, adaptation may not keep pace.

The United States has approved a satellite designed to beam light down to Earth at night.

The Federal Communications Commission recently granted a demonstration license to the startup Reflect Orbital for its Earendil-1 satellite. The craft is intended to use an orbital mirror to redirect sunlight onto Earth during nighttime hours.

Despite strong opposition from scientists and environmental groups, the FCC stated that assessing light pollution, interference with telescopes, and other non-radio environmental effects lies entirely outside its regulatory authority. The ruling therefore allows the test to proceed without any formal evaluation of its optical impacts, creating a clear gap in federal oversight as private companies move to commercialize artificial lighting from space.

Astronomers and conservation organizations have expressed deep concern about the precedent this decision establishes. The American Astronomical Society has cautioned that the technology could cause catastrophic interference with federally funded research. Groups such as Dark Sky International highlight the harmful effects of artificial night lighting on human circadian rhythms and nocturnal wildlife.

If Reflect Orbital’s demonstration succeeds, the company plans to launch as many as 50,000 mirror satellites by 2035. Critics warn that a constellation of that size would permanently brighten the planet’s darkest skies and render ground-based astronomical observations virtually impossible.

Something to think about. The US is struggling to find its way at the moment, but many other free countries, including Canada, have their own struggles. We mustn't go back to a past we think was better. We must imagine and create a better future for all, not just ourselves.
