Today marks 249 years since our stars and stripes first flew over the land of the free and the home of the brave. Today, our star-spangled banner yet waves. Happy U.S. Flag Day to all! 🇺🇸
James Talarico quotes Scripture, attends church, and studied at a seminary—but he also openly supports abortion, same-sex marriage, transgender ideology, and religious pluralism. Today, I examine exactly what he has said and hold it up against what the Bible actually teaches.
How in the name of all things right and good can the @SBCExecComm allow coffee vendors to close while #sbc26 is still in session? Is @bartbarber the villain behind the curtain?🤦🏼♂️😂😂. #coffee
I want to thank so many of you who have reached out personally to congratulate us and assure us of your prayers. We are humbled and accept this opportunity for service knowing it is a stewardship for which we will give account. I want to congratulate my brother, Josh Powell, and his wonderful family for his exemplary conduct and efforts during this season.
My esteem for him has only grown and I know he will be a voice in Southern Baptist life for years to come. We need 1000 pastors like him.
I want to assure all Southern Baptists, those who voted for me and those who didn’t, that
our desire is to serve our Lord and you and my prayer is indeed that God will bring us into a season of reconciliation and renewal. It is my hope to listen and to serve and I ask for your prayers, your patience, and your continued cooperation as we continue in the good work God has given us to do.
Tomorrow @PaulSPurvis will be nominated for the office of First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is a fellow Floridian, and pastor of Mission Hill Church in Temple Terrace.
The church has also celebrated baptizing 1,395 in the last 15 years!
Momentum always seems to be swinging in favor of the most (presumably) conservative candidate, or proposition, on X leading up to the SBC. At the end of the day, it's all about who gets the most people in the room. Not one single SBC decision in all of history has been decided on X. Never presume, always participate in the actual vote.
🚨BREAKING: Congress is drafting a bill to let federal law enforcement use dye-filled water cannons on rioters—the color stains skin for days.
Do you Firmly support this bill?
A. Hell yeah
B. No
Fun fact: Florida has more landscape companies than any other state in the country and Florida’s nursery and landscape industry employs over 279,000 Floridians! That’s why I was happy to meet with the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association in Washington this week to talk about issues their industry faces, the importance of legal temporary immigration programs, and the need for a reliable workforce. We must continue to support Florida’s growers, nurseries, and landscapers.
Every dollar lost to fraud is a dollar stolen from a working parent, a child in need, or a taxpayer who already paid the bill. I voted YES on the Stop Child Care Scams Act and Preventing Waste, Fraud and Abuse in TANF Act to crack down on waste, fraud, and abuse within child care and assistance programs nationwide.
Child care fraud alone costs American taxpayers at least $600 million a year and diverts critical resources away from working families who actually need them. This week, House Republicans voted to protect American families, not bankroll fraud.
Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. Today, we remember and honor the American heroes who parachuted into the fields and stormed the beaches of Normandy to protect the free world. Let us never forget their sacrifices.
To my Southern Baptist friends, I want to commend to you my friend and fellow Florida Baptist, Willy Rice. Perhaps like me, you have been discouraged in recent years over the challenges we’ve faced in our convention. We’ve desperately missed the prophetic voices of Baptist stalwarts like Adrian Rogers who could speak with wisdom and offer convictional leadership in troubled times. This is why I’ve come to love and appreciate Willy so much. He’s hopeful about the future of our Convention without ignoring the real challenges we face. He has a unique ability to put his finger on the issues before us and speak to them with both truth and grace. I have voted for a presidential candidate in every Annual Meeting since I attended my first one in 1998. I have never been as confident and excited to cast my ballot for someone as I am for Willy. I pray that you will join me.
As I said from the beginning the SBC does not have a systematic sexual abuse crisis. The whole thing was a reckless hoax which has cost us not only millions of dollars but immeasurable damage to our witness. Glad to see both candidates on point
