One way to know your faith is in your political party more than it is in Jesus is if you think God needs your political party to be in power in order for the Kingdom of God to be displayed.
“The child of God is pursued by divine goodness all his life and is never, ever able to escape it.”
— John Flavel (1627–1691)
You’ll be chased all week.
Mark 8:
In one moment Peter confesses Jesus as the Messiah.
[4 verses later]
Jesus calls Peter, Satan.
This is a summary of our journey of faith.
Sometimes we have good moments. Sometimes we don't.
Sometimes we are God’s vessel.
Sometimes we are complicit w/demonic powers.
If Jesus spent 8 hrs a day, every day, for 3 years w/his disciples, he would have spent over 8,000 hours w/them. And after all that time, they still had major gaps!
1 hour a week on Sunday will never change people.
We need a life that abides in him, with the support of others.
What does a mask do? Blocks respiratory droplets coming from your mouth and throat.
Two simple demos:
First, I sneezed, sang, talked & coughed toward an agar culture plate with or without a mask. Bacteria colonies show where droplets landed. A mask blocks virtually all of them.
Can one who goes the way of the Cross sit in the seat of Pilate when it falls vacant? A church that sees the cross of Jesus as the central event of history can never identify any political order with the reign of God.
This is the church
We will rebuke you when you are wrong
We will forgive you when you repent
But we will not cancel you when you are down ...for Christ will not cancel us
“Cancel culture” is not kingdom culture.
We don’t just applaud the righteous, we restore the fallen.
@KyleJamesHoward I was just thinking about how reductionary these statements really are. “Jesus came to save souls, not skin.” Like, maybe read Rom. 8.
This is in love! Some of my white siblings don’t follow any or many black leaders. Challenge yourself and find some and follow! Look thru those I follow as well! I love you all and look forward to US fighting together. We are better together than apart.
