“Within 1 month we are in a strong position to invite the world to come back to Jamaica to enjoy all the joys and pleasures that it has had over the years…” Minister of Tourism, Honourable Ed Bartlett🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
As we observe our National Days of Prayer, I invite every Jamaican to pause and lift our nation before God. In this challenging time, prayer remains a powerful source of comfort, strength, and guidance.
Let us come together in faith, for our families, for our communities, and for all who continue to recover from the impact of Hurricane Melissa. May we seek God’s wisdom as we work to restore, rebuild, and heal our beloved Jamaica. 🇯🇲
“The United States is providing an initial USD$24 million in emergency assistance to the Caribbean region in the aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, with $12 million for Jamaica. This life-saving assistance will be used to provide shelter, water, sanitation, hygiene, food assistance, and emergency healthcare. We will continue work with the Government of Jamaica to assess the destruction caused by Hurricane Melissa and determine future needs.” - https://t.co/rMvptLeg4w
The National Housing Trust will introduce a special home-improvement loan of up to J$3.5 million at an interest rate of 2 percent, available to both existing mortgagors and contributors who need to repair or rebuild their homes.
To further ease the burden, the NHT will provide a special grant of up to $500,000 to help contributors repair damage to their homes or those of immediate family members. Grants will be awarded based on demonstrated need and the level of impact.
Following an aerial and ground assessment of Falmouth, it is evident that the town has suffered significant damage from the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
Flooding has affected many sections of this low-lying area, and several buildings have lost their roofs or been completely flattened.
Our immediate priority is to restore electricity and telecommunications and to ensure that essential services, particularly at the Falmouth Hospital, are stabilized.
I extend heartfelt thanks to the medical teams and support staff who have continued to serve, even under extreme conditions, ensuring that patients remain safe and cared for.
Your Government is moving swiftly to repair and strengthen damaged facilities, while also reviewing building designs and roofing standards to make our infrastructure more resilient against future storms.
I also wish to remind citizens to use generators safely, operate them outdoors and away from enclosed spaces, to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
Jamaica has once again faced adversity, but the spirit, courage, and service of our people continue to shine through. We will rebuild stronger and wiser.
Know your Parish Disaster Coordinator!
In times of emergency, every second counts. Save these contact numbers from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM), your first point of contact in any disaster situation.
Be prepared. Stay safe. 🇯🇲

Our NWA teams and contractors have been working to clear blocked roads and reopen vital routes across several parishes.
Every cleared corridor means faster access to communities, relief supplies, and emergency services.
We are focused on reconnecting parishes, restoring mobility, and getting resources to those in need as quickly as possible.
Care packages are being distributed to affected Jamaicans following the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
As road access improves and communities are reconnected, additional relief, including temporary housing support, will be deployed to those most in need.
Jamaica has had five (5) years in a row of positive GDP growth in the Second Quarter (April - June) since Covid ended!
These are Q2-2021; Q2-2022; Q2-2023; Q2-2024 and Q2-2025🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Congratulations to @AndrewHolnsssJM and @williams_fayval on Jamaica’s S&P credit rating upgrade to BB with a positive outlook. This milestone reflects disciplined fiscal management and opens the door to lower borrowing costs, greater investor confidence, and improved access to capital for Jamaican businesses. 🇯🇲👏 #Jamaica #Growth #Entrepreneurship #EconomicProgress

The green agent just called and asked if the asset was for sale . Said that another green asset would eat it up, consider it done! ..and don’t worry, consider it approved!with no worries . Not sure oranges work like that, may have to get a juicer for that vitamin C. @tycobb …great Scott! Ball out the park.
@Gordonswaby It’s important to continue to invest in Jamaica, it’s our future, I know for the young entrepreneurs who have the option of looking overseas it’s tempting because of various reasons , bureaucrats, “schlechter verstand” but we have to push through it.
