The current culture not all but in the main, people think they can conduct themselves as they would in their own home in a public place. In my view it is rude to use a device in a public enclosed space occupied by other people without the use of a headset earbuds or hold to ear
On a packed train with my family. Couple across the aisle both alternatively playing social media videos on speakers at full volume. Managed not to say anything until the woman started playing a documentary about serial killers. I'm here with my daughter.
I politely said "please could you turn it down it's not appropriate." To which she replied "I'm sure she's heard worse at school." I said that really wasn't her call to make and in general could she please reduce the volume.
Her response "Its a public train for heavens sake".
For me that's exactly why it is anti social (and what headphones were invented for). I'm wondering which one of us is out of kilter on this?
Ps I should note she did thankfully reduce the volume and we all left it there.
This is a huge NYT investigation into how Russia uses shell companies and Tether, a crypto coin, to evade sanctions and buy arms.
What it doesn't mention is that the main U.S. backer of Tether is Cantor Fitzgerald, the firm run by Howard Lutnick's sons. https://t.co/ivQhkhKhU4
BREAKING: Judge Kelly gives Trump CRUSHING news in the CNN, Politico, MS NOW case by announcing at today's hearing that the administration appears to have violated the proper "process."
This might just be a record fast defeat for Donnie...
U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly, who ironically enough was appointed by Trump during his first term, previously oversaw a case involving the Trump White House's revocation of reporter Jim Acosta's credentials. Kelly ultimately ruled in favor of Acosta and his access was restored. In that case, Kelly drew on previously settled court cases which had found that journalists are inherently entitled to “pre-deprivation notice and opportunity to be heard” before their access is removed.
“I think it is fair to say that the process the court laid out [in those cases] wasn’t followed here,” Kelly said today, in reference to the new lawsuit.
And it really is that simple. Trump banned CNN, Politico, and MS NOW from the White House suddenly last Friday for supposedly spreading "fake news." In reality, he was just angry after his "special assistant" Natalie Harp showed him unflattering coverage of his presidency from the outlets in question.
The White House has since tried to retroactively construct a reason for the ban, and letters went out to the outlets yesterday claiming that this blatant attack on free speech is actually an effort to protect national security.
Trump provided them with no prior notice and was not interested in hearing a defense from them because this was all about protecting his own bruised ego. The reporters had broken no rules, nor had they even published accidentally false stories. Their great offense was that they reported honestly on this spiraling travesty of a presidency.
“The public interest is in getting more information about the government. Of course, there's public interest in the prerogatives of the White House and the like," Theodore Boutrous Jr, an attorney for the outlets in this lawsuit, argued in court. "But here, a constitutional violation is against the public interest."
"This court made the point in Taylor versus Trump, in Acosta, the D.C. Circuit, and Karem clearly said this kind of due process violation is an irreparable harm and against the public interest," he added. "So we think, for all those reasons, the court should grant a temporary restraining order or a preliminary injunction on both the due process grounds and our two First Amendment arguments.”
Please ❤️ and share to urge the judge to rule against Trump!
"In the next few years we may face a war...we will need people who will join the armed services and who will go out and do their duty... people have to die to save their country as they did in the First and Second World Wars.”
~ Jacob Rees-Mogg
As always, it’s the pompous politicians who bang the drum of war, while sitting in their luxurious ivory towers, comfortably away from the line of fire while demanding the sacrifice of the lives of thousands of young people.
Massive Courage from Poland under Tusk
🇵🇱Poland: "If Russia attacks us and we take the gloves off - we beat Russia FAST. We have overwhelming air power superiority. Ukraine took out half of Russia's refineries in 6 months. We would do it in 6 WEEKS."
Absolute brutal by Poland.
My Lord.
@JoeBiden, 83 years old, battling Stage 4 cancer that has spread to his bones, stood for HOURS alongside @DrBiden as the names of 9/11 victims were read.
Donald Trump fell asleep at the 9/11 event at the Pentagon.
One showed respect despite his pain. The other couldn't even stay awake.
Trump is an embarrassment to the nation and the office he holds.
Really says it all.
Trump claimed he was pulled from the rubble on September 11: "Two firefighters—big, strong guys—grabbed me by the arms—'We’ve got to get out of here!'—and literally lifted me up and started running with me."
In reality, the biggest liar in American history was four kilometers away.
Americans, do you remember laughing at a drunken Yeltsin when he met with Clinton? Oh, the Russians were so embarrassed back then...
Well, what does it look like today—is it funny?
The fact that Farage demands absolute loyalty from everyone - yet refers to his aide who has worked for him for a decade as a mere ‘contractor’
Shows you everything about that man’s character tbh
So Nigel Farage has declared Reform would declare a national emergency on day one so that they can overrule the judiciary and force legislation through.
This seems to be remarkably like the enabling act that Hitler and the Nazis used to grab power. https://t.co/tF0eQwxCa4
Kwasi Kwarteng: Private insurance will have to play a part in the future of the NHS
This was always the goal. The Tories deliberately broke up the NHS (internal market/outsourcing) & understaffed & underfunded services for years in order to make it fail & bring us to this point
THIS IS ABSOLUTE CINEMA 🔥
🇺🇸Trump at 5:00 PM: "We're taking them on. Lake Ontario, it's Lake America. It's time to teach Canada."
🇨🇦Canada at 6:00 PM: "You have all the time to rename geographical places but have no time to unredact names in the Epstein Files."
Canada is literally cooking Trump. 🤣🔥
That moment when Donald Trump was warning about the dangers of the US reaching $24 trillion in debt:
"That's the point of no return. That's when we become a country that's unsalvageable"
Today, US national debt has reached $40 trillion.

Starbucks paid zero tax in 2025 on sales of £556.3m. They got a £13.7m tax credit instead.
What's the benefit of having Starbucks in the UK?
Either tax them on their sales or give the sites to independent British cafes instead.
Stop letting foreign multinationals plunder our country.
