The Centre says in reply in Sansad (read below)

• E20 was rolled out in phases after years of testing by IOCL, IIP, SIAM & ARAI.
• Studies found no significant impact on engine durability, performance, drivability or BS-VI emissions.
• Even older vehicles generally don't need modifications, except some pre-2016 models that may require routine replacement of rubber parts/gaskets.
• SIAM says there are no widespread reports linking E20 to engine failures.
• Claims of engine damage and mileage loss have largely been driven by public commentary and social media, not validated evidence.

From 1.53% ethanol blending in 2013-14 to 20% by Dec 2025, the government says the programme was backed by scientific studies, field trials and consultations before rollout.

The Government has now put the facts on record in Parliament.

India’s E20 rollout wasn’t rushed - it was a phased, scientifically validated and consultative programme involving NITI Aayog, ARAI, SIAM, IIP, OMCs, automobile manufacturers and other technical institutions.

The Government also clarified that it took note of concerns raised in media and social media and had them scientifically examined.

The conclusion:
• No substantiated complaints from vehicle manufacturers, automobile associations or consumer organisations regarding engine failure, fuel pump issues, corrosion, water contamination or other performance issues attributable to E20.
• Over ₹1.97 lakh crore in forex saved.
• 316 lakh MT of crude oil substituted.
• 952 lakh MT of CO₂ emissions avoided.
• ₹1.66 lakh crore in additional income for Indian farmers.

@justcardz @DealsDhamaka AMT are bad where Engine are 3 Cylinder Engines, but works great on 4 Cylinder Engines. All the AMT which i had test driven were great without any jerks or headnod effect.

In Suzuki, AMT manufacturer is Magneti Marelli who were Pioneer of it and now they have optimised it.

E20 petrol should be assessed through facts, not assumptions.

It contains around 6.8% less energy per litre than pure petrol, while the real-world mileage difference is generally lower. Ethanol’s higher octane rating improves knock resistance and supports efficient combustion.

For vehicles designed or calibrated for E20, the fuel is safe and compatible. It also supports lower emissions and reduces India’s dependence on imported crude oil.

Ethanol-blended petrol has already been used across India for years. The focus should remain on vehicle compatibility, informed consumer awareness and evidence-based discussion.

@_PVRCinemas Extremely disappointed with my visit to PVR Superplex, Forum South Bengaluru on Sat, Mar 21 (4PM, Audi 8). Seats K11-K15 had worn-out, uncomfortable handrests and a persistent stinky smell. Not the "Superplex" experience I paid for. Please resolve this.
