HNI Indian parents are actively destroying their GenZ kids with their passive income. They thought they were securing their family's future.

In reality, they just planted a generation of completely unemployable lethargic kids.
If you go to any Tier-1 or Tier-2 city today and you will see alot of 25 year old Gen Z kids trapped in the ultimate wealth dilemma

1. The Ego Trap: They refuse to take blue collar or ground level sales jobs because it hurts the family reputation.

2. The Lifestyle Trap: They refuse to take an entry level ₹30,000 corporate job because that doesn't even cover their baseline monthly expenses for cafes, fuel, and weekend trips.

3. The Entitlement Trap: They refuse to take over the traditional family business that actually built their wealth because it isn't aesthetic or is too boring.

So what do they actually do? Absolutely nothing.

They wake up at 11 AM. They live off the passive rental yield their parents built. Maybe they stroll into their dad's office for 4 hours a day to sit in an AC cabin to play Director-director and leave.

And the parents are 100% to blame.

Their obsession with providing a comfortable life and feeding their kids passive income has completely killed the family's active ambition. The father is still grinding 10 hours a day at 55, while the 25 year old son is treating life like an all inclusive resort.

If your father is funding your comfort zone, you are just a massive liability on a monthly allowance.

Worse, Indian parents actively refuse to let their kids move out of the city to struggle. Their entire logic is why leave when your father is already earning enough here?

In the US, kids are pushed out to build their own survival skills. In India, We are suffocating our kids with comfort.

A boy from a farming family in Tamil Nadu walked 3 km to a government school where the teaching was in Tamil.

In 1987 he joined Tata Consultancy Services as an intern.

Today, after 40 years at the group, he told the board he does not want the job again.

His name is Natarajan Chandrasekaran.

He was born on 2nd June 1963 in Mohanur, a village in Namakkal district in Tamil Nadu. The family farmed. As a boy he helped his father grow rice, sugarcane and bananas.

He studied applied sciences at Coimbatore Institute of Technology, then did a master's in computer applications at the Regional Engineering College in Tiruchirappalli, now NIT Trichy.

He joined TCS at 24, as an intern.

He never left. He worked there 20 years before becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2007, and Chief Executive in 2009.

Under him TCS revenue grew from about 6.3 billion dollars in 2009 to about 16.5 billion dollars in 2016. It became the group's biggest earner.

In October 2016 Tata Sons removed its chairman Cyrus Mistry, in one of the ugliest boardroom fights India had seen. Ratan Tata returned as interim chairman while a committee searched for a successor.

They chose Chandrasekaran. He took charge on 21st February 2017, the first person from outside the Parsi community and the first career professional, rather than a family member, to lead the group.

The best known decision of his time was buying back Air India in 2022, the airline the Tatas founded and lost to the government in 1953.

Now the part he explained himself today.

His term ends on 20th February 2027. The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and the Sir Ratan Tata Trust had both unanimously agreed to recommend extending him for another 5 years. The Tata Sons nomination committee and the board recorded that recommendation.

The resolution was placed before the Tata Sons board on 24th February 2026.

It did not go through, because 1 board member did not support it.

Chandrasekaran says that without unanimous support, he chose to defer the decision himself.

6 months passed. Nothing was resolved.

In his statement he says Tata Sons is a very large institution with strategic projects at critical stages, and that clarity on leadership matters for employees, investors and partners.

So he has told the board he will not offer himself for reappointment, and asked them to decide the succession soon.

He has not named the director who did not support him, and he has not blamed anyone.

He ends the statement with one line. I am grateful for the support of all stakeholders.
