At less than 2 months old, Langley was found alone near 79th and Langley in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood. When Animal Control officers saw how crusted over and uncomfortable he was, they brought him to safety.
When he arrived at PAWS Chicago, our veterinary team discovered that Langley was dehydrated, underweight, and suffering from severe symblepharon in both eyes — scar tissue had caused parts of his eyelids and eyes to become fused together, completely obscuring his corneas.
But this tiny kitten isn’t giving up.
Our doctors are hopeful they can repair at least one eye and possibly avoid removing both altogether.
Thankfully, Langley has an incredible foster family by his side, helping him gain weight, grow stronger, and experience the love every kitten deserves.
And thank you to our feline feeding partner, @Purina for providing the nutrition that helps vulnerable kittens like Langley heal and thrive.
The Chicago Hounds are proud to announce @PAWSChicago as our Official Charity Partner and to represent them on the front of our jerseys for the remainder of the 2026 @usmlr season 🐺📈
Double the love, double the purrs 🐾
Bonded pairs come with built-in besties, snuggle buddies, and tiny emotional support systems. We’ve got four duos ready to go home together:
💛 Marcello + Marley Velcro besties. Marcello (FIV+) is your affectionate greeter, Marley is his soft shadow. Big cuddle energy.
💛 Chai + Jacque A cozy, gentle senior duo. Think quiet mornings, soft purrs, and slow blinks. Shy at first, but so, so sweet. Chai is vision impaired (and perfect).
💛 Satay + Sakay Timid little noodles turned purring, playful lovebugs. They’ve been through a lot and just need a soft place to land. Inhaler pros, Churu obsessed, deeply in love with each other.
💛 Nectar + Pollen Shy in the spotlight, stars at home. Once comfy, they’re silly, social, and full of zoomies. A dynamic little duo.
They’ve already found their soulmate, now they just need a home.
Adopting a bonded pair means they come with built-in companionship, confidence, and love. If you’ve been thinking about adding a cat to your family… consider making it two!
Today, our team came together to perform 219 feral cat spay/neuter surgeries, along with vaccines, flea treatment, preventatives, and critical care to help cats stay healthier in the field.
Spring is kitten season at its peak — when warmer weather fuels rapid breeding and already overwhelmed conditions. Spay/neuter breaks that cycle, stopping future litters before they start and easing pressure on overcrowded shelters.
This work happens year-round through our Community Outreach and TNR programs, but days like today show what focused, high-volume prevention can do: fewer kittens born into uncertainty, fewer animals entering the system tomorrow.
Real change is prevention. One cat, one surgery, one day at a time.
And we’re not done yet. Your support helps PAWS add a sixth surgery day each week at our Medical Center — expanding capacity to more than 24,000 additional spay/neuter surgeries a year.
Thanks to a generous $10,000 Matching Gift Challenge in honor of Paige Bentley, every gift today is doubled. Prevention saves lives. Donate to support this work: https://t.co/RQJnst3j9o
We need your help today. It is the final day of our ultrasound fundraiser, and we’re still about $2,700 from our goal. Please donate to help provide lifesaving care for cats like Emma.
Emma came to PAWS struggling to breathe with a life-threatening diaphragmatic hernia, meaning the organs that should have been in her abdomen had moved into her chest. Our medical team rushed her into urgent surgery, and ultrasound played a critical role in helping map her organs before surgery and continuing to monitor for dangerous complications after.
This equipment helps us diagnose faster, treat smarter, and save more lives. Every gift today brings us closer to the finish line for animals like Emma.

Bootsy may be small, but she’s fighting a big battle.
After collapsing in foster care, she was rushed to our Medical Center and diagnosed with IMHA, a life-threatening condition where the body attacks its own red blood cells. She’s already needed two transfusions just to stay alive. Now, our team is working to find the cause behind her illness — because with IMHA, that answer can mean everything.
An ultrasound machine helps us see what we can’t: detecting hidden infections, tumors, or other conditions quickly so we can act fast. But traditional ultrasound machines are stationary and cumbersome. Our veterinary team needs flexibility and portability to diagnose conditions faster and begin treatment swiftly. The faster we get answers, the better chance animals like Bootsy have.
We’re raising funds for a new handheld ultrasound machine to give our team the tools they need to save more lives. Donate to be part of that impact: https://t.co/zKOAjKSBPC

From crisis to a fresh start 💛
When Los Angeles shelters became overwhelmed following a large-scale hoarding case, more than 300 animals had to be held as evidence — putting the dogs already in the system at an incredibly high risk of euthanasia due to extreme overcrowding.
To make room, PAWS Chicago stepped in. We transported 41 dogs and puppies who were already in the shelters, giving them a second chance and helping free up critical space for the incoming animals.
Now safe at our Nan & Wayne Kocourek Medical Center, each pup has received a full health exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, and the care they need to begin healing. Next comes foster homes, love, and the journey to becoming adoption-ready.
You can be part of their second chance. Donate to our Crisis Response Fund and help us continue these lifesaving rescues: https://t.co/M41Zek9jiK
It’s Hank’s Time to Shine 🌟
Hank is part of Time to Shine, our foster-to-adopt event happening Sunday, March 29 from 11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. at the Pippen Fasseas Adoption Center! It’s a great chance to meet animals who are usually in foster homes and not often at the adoption center.
This big, handsome 7-year-old is the total package: sweet, goofy, and full of love. He’s playful, a great listener, and just as happy lounging with his people as he is going for walks or playing fetch. Hank is looking for a home with a mix of activity, companionship, and continued training, and he’ll give endless affection in return.
This event lets you bring a pet home without pressure. PAWS provides supplies and medical support while you get to know each other. Many attending pets do best in homes without small children and may prefer to be your one-and-only.
Ready to meet Hank and other pets looking for families? RSVP at the link in our bio!
Fergus’ heart was literally failing him, but he didn’t give up — and neither did we.
When Fergus arrived at our medical center from CACC, our team discovered a severe congenital heart defect called a Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). Most dogs with this condition don’t survive past their first year, but Fergus, estimated to be three years old, had already defied the odds.
Determined to give him a second chance, our veterinary team partnered with specialists at the University of Illinois to perform life-saving heart surgery. The procedure was a success, and Fergus is now on the road to recovery, with careful monitoring and rest ahead.
Stories like Fergus’ are why we do this work. Every animal deserves a chance at life, no matter how complex their medical needs. Thanks to advanced care, teamwork, and your support, Fergus now has a brighter future ahead.

See how one week at PAWS can change everything for an at-risk pet 💛
This is Cedric.
Cedric was living as a community cat, meaning he was part of a feral outdoor colony and cared for by one of our dedicated Colony Caretakers. When he came to PAWS for a scheduled neuter and return, it was clear he needed much more than that. He was suffering from a severe upper respiratory infection, dehydration, and an upset stomach. He was simply too sick to go back outside.
Instead of returning Cedric to life outdoors, we knew we needed to help him. We brought him into our care so he could receive the medical treatment he needed, as well as the comfort, patience, and love that every at-risk pet deserves. He quickly seemed to discover just how much he enjoys life as an indoor cat. With soft beds, warm spaces, and plenty of pets, he settled in nicely.
Now, Cedric is healing at PAWS, surrounded by dedicated care and so much love as he continues his journey toward a cozy, healthy future.

Zuzu and Zucca were just eight weeks old when Chicago’s winter nearly took their lives. Found alone on one of the coldest, snowiest days of the year, these tiny sisters were frostbitten, dehydrated, and barely hanging on.
They were rushed to PAWS, where they’re now warm, safe, and receiving lifesaving care. But so many others are still out there tonight, facing freezing temperatures with nowhere to turn.
Winter isn’t letting up, and the need is urgent. A gift to our Cold Weather Fund helps rescue pets from the cold, provide emergency medical care, and save lives when every minute matters.
Zuzu and Zucca survived because help arrived in time.
Please donate today to help the next animal in need. 💛
