Despite the grim weather the first bluebell leaves are showing in the woods and we’ve already had a drumming woodpecker this year. Not sure I really celebrate these super-early signs of spring in our changing world…
@jesika55551 @BC_Yorkshire@savebutterflies@StNicksFields@ynuorg@YNET4@YorksWildlife @rewildyorkshire You need a photo showing all critical features or a specimen. Not sure what Vice County you are in (three meet close by) - recorders’ details are in the Yorkshire Butterflies and Moths report. @DoubleKidney would be interested; it might be the first county record since 2022…
@jesika55551 @BC_Yorkshire@savebutterflies@StNicksFields@ynuorg@YNET4@YorksWildlife @rewildyorkshire Amazing. When did you see the moth Jessika? Wormwood is listed as ´Rare and local resident on the verge of extinction’ in Yorkshire. I don’t know this species (it’s grade 3 for id) but it might be new to the vice county.
Is it at all possible to ID these mines on hornbeam please?VC61 @AndyDNunn. Only just starting out on these after an excellent morning in the field with @DoubleKidney last month. Lots to learn!
