Speculative: Thinking about the end game on tariffs.

Trump is going to retreat whenever the other side, be it a country (China) or a firm (Apple), turns out to have enough economic or political leverage.

If the other side does not have leverage however, he will not. Thus, small players, countries or firms (think Vietnam, small US businesses…) will likely suffer.

The result will not be a return to the past, but a patchwork of badly thought-out, inefficient, and cruel tariffs.
