I talked to some folks at Pembina about the proposed power plant near Edmonton.

"There's so much gas in the Alliance pipeline, that we might as well just burn some and make electricity ".

It barely makes sense economically, but it's politically confusing.

It's not green.
It's contrary to the "Net Zero" power grid vision.
It's in a bad place from a technical point of view.
It's powering AI, which will eliminate 1,000s of jobs.

But, it has a chance of actually getting built, unlike the pipeline. So is this the real horse trading that happened behind closed doors last week?

To me it looks like this is the only capital project that the private sector could offer to Carney, but it wasn't big enough to convince the public that Ottawa is working with Alberta. Not sexy like a big "nation building" pipeline.

Carney quietly allowed a power plant that is totally contrary to his vision, in exchange for using Pembina's name in a pipeline press release.

Canada didn’t suddenly become unaffordable because of one American president.

It became unaffordable after **11 years** of Liberal policies that made this country fragile as hell:

• **Housing**: Rents and prices exploded because Trudeau (and now Carney) ramped immigration to record levels while housing supply lagged by **over 545,000 units** between 2015-2023. Vacancy rates hit historic lows. Young Canadians got priced out of the dream. Recent immigration cuts are finally easing rents — proving it was always a policy failure, not “global forces.”

• **Productivity**: While the US surged, Canada’s labour productivity stagnated. The gap with America is now the widest in generations. We produce less per hour worked → lower wages, less wealth created, everything feels more expensive. That’s not Trump. That’s us.

• **Spending & Debt**: Record deficits, debt ballooned past $2.4 trillion combined federal-provincial. Interest payments alone are eating us alive. Reckless money printing and spending during and after COVID helped fuel the inflation that crushed groceries, rent, and paycheques.

• **Carbon tax + over-regulation**: Added real costs through the supply chain while they kept telling us “everything is fine” as Canadians drowned.

Your rent. Your mortgage. Your groceries. Your shrinking paycheque.

That didn’t happen because of tariffs or some war overseas.

That happened because of **11 years of failed Liberal policies** that prioritized virtue-signalling, mass immigration without homes, and endless deficits over actually making Canada work for Canadians.

She’s living in the US and can see the difference clearly.

We’re still here living the consequences.

Stop blaming everyone else.

Own it. Fix it. Or get the hell out of the way.

- We can’t access certain news channels without the government or platforms getting in the way.
- We can’t even pray in peace without someone trying to shut it down.
- Don’t fill out the census? Get fined.
- Someone breaks into your house? You can’t defend yourself properly — you can’t even hurt them without risking jail.
- We can’t own guns to protect our families.
- The government now decides what your kids can see on social media — not you.
- And we don’t even get to decide what goes into our own bodies… or our babies’.

This isn’t freedom.
This is a managed population.

Year after year, the Liberals chipped away at it — one “reasonable” restriction at a time — until regular Canadians started asking the question this woman is asking.

Mark Carney and the people running this country didn’t inherit a free nation.
They inherited one they could control.

And they’ve been very busy.

If this still feels like “Canada” to you, you’re either not paying attention… or you’re part of the problem.
