Very exciting to see housing moving forward at Scarborough Junction GO station, which will be one of the biggest transit hubs in the city as GO expansion upgrades move forward. Construction is planned for 2027 and occupancy in 2030.
A major provincial investment is set to advance the first phase of the Scarborough Junction Masterplan, a transit-oriented community planned around Scarborough GO station. The Ontario government has announced an investment of up to $178 million through the Building Ontario Fund (BOF) to support approximately 1,700 purpose-built rental homes, including 340 affordable units with below-market rents. https://t.co/5BUYoRewPd

One of the biggest problems with GO expansion is that there doesn't seem to be a plan to make Scarborough GO a transfer station. Currently only Lakeshore GO trains stop here, and some future plans only had Stouffville trains stopping at the station
@ColinDMello Absolutely disgusting and reprehensible.
@fordnation you are a disgrace to the democratic process of Ontario. Working for Ontarians means being in the legislature as part of that job. You don’t want to be there? Resign! Go spend time at your Muskoka mansion.
NEW: the Ford government confirms the Ontario legislature will begin a 102-day summer break today, not returning until Oct. 27.
Government house leader Steve Clark explains the province doesn’t want to interfere with the municipal elections, so they’ll return the day after.
🚨 BREAKING: The Ontario Legislature won’t return until October 27
~5 months of no Question Period.
No accountability.
No debate.
Steve Clark, the House Leader, the man who resigned over the Greenbelt scandal, says they don’t want to “interfere in municipal elections.”
Odd excuse, given that this is same Ford government that cancelled regional chair elections mid campaign.
Cut Toronto’s council size mid election.
Used strong mayor powers to override councils.
Here’s real reason: Canada is in recession.
Carney is collapsing in the polls.
Ford is propping Carney up by going dark.
Ford is avoiding accountability himself.
This is the second time Ford has done this in less than a year.
Insane.
@mweinbach That is true for me, but to an extent. I am not going to pay $2000 or $4000 if I can get the same or similar features for $1000 or $2000, even if it's not an OLED screen, and the device still looks good.
4X Police 👮 officers are spending Sunday giving out tickets to cyclists for not fully stopping at stop signs 🛑 at Martin Goodman Trail (Lakeshore and stadium Road)
Meanwhile people driving cars are responsible for 95% of deaths on toronto roads. #bikeTO
@jedwinmok@JRUrbaneNetwork@moretransitso Fire the incompetent. This is unacceptable. I see no reason why our transit costs should be so much higher. There are reasons that it's more expensive, but I bet almost all of those reasons are related to laziness and enriching one or more people.
@DavefromTO@RM_Transit Fair point. I am sure that if someone falls under the train, they will still be killed or severely injured. Platform screen doors (which are the best) or even Japanese gates and fences (better than nothing) would be a better solution.
