The KIDS/KOSA Acts sounds like child safety. Buried inside it, a mandatory identity verification regime for the internet.

To prove you're not a minor, you hand over PII data such as your name, birthdate, address, phone number, IP address, government ID, and/or a facial scan, to a third-party like Persona/IDMerit/a vendor you never chose.

We've already run this experiment. Persona kept biometric data for 3 years. IDMerit exposed a billion identity records. AU10TIX left login credentials exposed for over a year. Spain's regulator fined Yoti for keeping users' geolocation data five years too long.

The law says vendors can only keep your data for as long as required and that is "strictly necessary." But the data that's necessary to prove your age is the most exposing data you own. There's no safe version of this.

Call your reps. Tell them you oppose H.R. 7757 and any similar legislation.
