I often get asked what to do at the end of the round where you’re playing well and you are starting to get nervous about your score.
Here are some thoughts that have helped me over the years:
• Flip the script and embrace the challenge. I’m excited to be playing well and this is what I’m here for!
• Keep reminding myself that I’ll be OK no matter what happens. I can’t fully control what my score will end up being.
• Know that I am gaining valuable experience, especially if this scenario is new to me
• Try to do everything exactly the same as I would no matter what - routine, target selection etc. Once I feel like I do something differently it brings me out of my comfort zone
• If I’m very nervous I’ll concentrate on my breathing (I like the 4-4-4 box method)
Hope that helps!
