Another Bible mistake is when we ask “what does this passage mean?” and we unintentionally add “to me, a 21st century person living in this culture?”.

That’s a really problematic posture. It changes the interpretation of Scripture to one that comes from you instead of from the text. That’s a common and fatal flaw.

Ask what it meant to the original readers. Also ask what it meant in the context of all of Scripture.

You and me are not the proper contextual setting of the Old or New Testament.
