HM King Harald V of Norway has died aged 89. He is succeeded by his son HM King Haakon VIII

King Harald was the first Norwegian-born monarch to inherit the throne since Olav IV in 1380

He was Norway's oldest monarch and, following the death of Elizabeth II, became Europe's oldest reigning monarch.

King Harald was an accomplished sportsman and represented Norway in sailing in the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games. In the sailing World Championships he won bronze in 1988, silver in 1982, and gold in 1987.

Amongst his foreign honours, King Harald held 3 British honours:

* Royal Victorian Chain (1994)
* Honorary Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (1955)
* Stranger Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

King Harald is succeeded by his son, King Haakon VIII, who also succeeds him as Grand Master of the Royal Norwegian Order of Saint Olav and Grand Master of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.

More than 300 staff and students at Oxford University are reportedly challenging the implementation of the new EHRC rules on single-sex spaces.

They’re not alone.

Eight major trade unions, representing around 3.6 million workers, have criticised the guidance. UNISON alone says it has received more than 600 examples from members of how the new arrangements are proving unworkable.

UN human-rights experts have warned that the UK risks institutionalising discrimination against transgender people.

And yet we’re repeatedly told that concern about what is happening to trans rights comes only from a tiny group of activists who simply refuse to accept the law.

It doesn’t.

It comes from academics. Students. Trade unions. Human-rights experts. Employers. Parents. Trans people themselves. And ordinary people who simply look at what is happening and think:

Surely we can do better than this.

I’m the mother of a transgender daughter.

I don’t want special rights for her.

I don’t want anybody else’s rights diminished for her.

I simply want her to be able to go to work, travel, meet friends, use ordinary facilities and live her life with the same dignity most of us take for granted.

That’s really not a radical demand.

And seeing more people prepared to stand up and say so gives me hope.

Keep speaking. Keep questioning. Keep reminding people that behind every policy debate are actual human beings. ❤️🏳️‍⚧️

Over een paar weken staat @mauricedehond weer eens voor de strafrechter. Voor een reeks leugens.

Eerder kreeg hij wegens smaad een voorwaardelijke celstraf opgelegd. Als het OM consequent is gaan ze nu voor een onvoorwaardelijke celstraf. En dat zou ik terecht vinden.

De Hond heeft de levens van twee mensen onherstelbaar beschadigd door zijn narcistische obsessie, rancune en gebrek aan zelfreflectie.

Ook omdat De Hond onverbeterlijk is, want hij kondigde al aan zijn strafzaak te zullen gebruiken om weer aandacht te vragen voor de leugens waar hij al eerder voor is veroordeeld.

Daar heb je dus geen recidive-instrument meer voor nodig.
